Pros: Good location and near good eating places..
Cons: For the price, a little upgrading is necessary..Hotel breakfast buffet left a lot to be desired..
Location: Very good location...eating places near by...
Check in was good...But there were several things that had to be fixed ...Shower curtain was almost off the wall...Chair arms came completely off when trying to move the chair...room wasn't all that clean..dusty, nasty bedskirt..clock never did work right...Bath was clean however...Although room service was prompt about several issues and very courteous, things could have been much better over all. We had to ask for towels on a daily basis and our beds were not made but one time in 4 days stay...Without lots of improvement I would not recommend this hotel...I also would rather stay somewhere else even though it was nice being just across the street from the beach..

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar at the pool was relaxing and enjoyable. Great way to cool off at the end of the day.

Right in the middle of the island. Easy to find things to see and do. Fun place for my son to have his birthday.

Family hotel close to the beach

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: The king size bed, very comfortable. The staff is polite and helpful.
Cons: Everything else
Location: Beach (crowded), amusement park, historic center, oil rig experience, flight museum.
The hotel is old and struggling to stay decent, but it urgently needs renovation. Very low quality breakfast.

1 of our top 2 places to stay in Galveston

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: Location, rooms, view, pool & pool bar, gated parking, & the staff.
Cons: More bartenders in the pool bar at peak hours. The breakfast buffet is decent but could have more fruit.
Location: right on the seawall & close to everything in Galveston. The strand is a short drive away (2 miles or so maybe).
We stayed here twice in the last 3 months. Both times everything went well and it was a great stay. The rooms are nice, all views are facing the gulf, nice pool & the added bonus of a pool bar. This hotel also has gated parking and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Not for the money

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Checked in....Gave us a room that was already assigned to another guest. Awkward to say the least when we let ourselves into someone else's room. Rooms were not clean...mold in the shower...no bathtub..just shower. Air conditioning was not good. Did have a nice pool and a good breakfast buffet for $11. Cost of the room was $189 a night!!

The ac was cold so that's good. The hotel is a bit older but you get what you pay for.

Elevator being "serviced".

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: Checking out
Cons: close the doors
The elevator was being "serviced" when we arrived. The wait for the service elevator was twenty minutes and every time we left the room the wait was at least ten minutes. Turns out the elevator is not going to be repaired due to expense and will not be until the new owners next year. After the first night I asked for a room on the first floor, which was denied and then asked to cancel the reservation, also denied!!! Please do not check into the Hotel Galveston, it is not lovely place, there is plenty of room at the Hotel Galveston, last thing I remember I was walking down the stairs I had to find a passage to lobby from hell, I spoke to the Captain, he said we have not had an elevator since 1969.
