The overall experience was ok but mainly because the staff is very helpful and the room was spotless. The hotel is very antiquated and in desperate need of an upgrade. It is in the perfect location but I expected a little more from what I had seen online.

This was a real nice place I loved the pool and the bar. The motel was located in walking distance to everything. It was great.

1970, That is what I felt like I was revisitng.

Pros: The only thing I liked was the ocean view which I payed extra for and the outside bar.
Cons: Everything needs upgrades.
Location: It was close to all activity
The hotel is in poor condition and needs a complete upgrade. Room furniture is very old and worn out. Our chest drawers were off track and would not close. The shower had mold aroung the tile. The so called restaurantt was a coverted bar serving breakfast and lunch. The buffet was priced way too high for what they provided and the menu items were limited and pricy as well. Once the restauarnt closes at 2PM they send you outside and call the outside bar a restaurant. The main elevator was broken down so everyone used the freight elevator which was small and slow. When I looked at the pictures available on their addvertisement it made it look as though they had a nice lounge area in lobby, not true! This is not a 3.5 star hotel, maybe a slight two.

Do not come here.

Cons: Parking, Elevators, kinder staff that does not constantly knock on your door right before check out.
This hotel was ok. The view on the online website looked nicer it did not look the same in person the breakfast was not included as specified. The instructions for the breakfast was not included, instead we ended up in the restaurant paying which we did not want. They keep rushing us out of the room at prior to check out time. The main elevator was not working then around 7:pm the and the other elevator was broke down, my husband had to walk 5 floors up an down, which was extremely inconvenient.

Nice Hotel, Great Location

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Our family of 5 just spent 5 days and had a fabulous time. Room was clean and comfortable. Pool and tiki bar were awesome, we didn't want to leave. Great location! Staff was very friendly. We would definitely come back in the future.

Unpleasant staff. Tried to check in at 4:00, room was not clean. Asked to come back later, room still was not ready. "Upgraded" to another room but was not impressed. Not a terrible place, but would not go back.

It's all in the details.

Pros: Probably the best part was the pool. We enjoyed the bar with the neon lights. And the AC in the room was efficient. And we had hot water.
Cons: Details make a difference when staying in a hotel. Just as I described, the staff needs to go the extra mile when it comes to customer satisfaction.
We were made aware when we checked in that a new company would be taking over the hotel and that there might be workers interrupting our stay. I was very disappointed to see that the staff didn't take much interest to ensure that we had everything we needed. There were no towels or washcloths inside the bathroom, and when they came finally, they just gave us a few towels, no washcloths. They ran out of towels at the pool, and didn't have any at all to give to us. The pool staff was unfriendly. The entire hotel was in much need of a makeover. They didn't offer complementary breakfast. For as much as I paid to stay there, I thought for sure they would offer a complementary breakfast. Also, the earliest we could check in was 4pm. We had to be out by 11am. We couldn't even stay for 20 hours, much less an entire day.

Disappointed by Galveston Beach Hotel!

Posted Jul 12, 2014
Pros: The only good thing about this hotel was the location.
Cons: Friendlier more efficient staff is needed. The entire place needs to be cleaned top to bottom!
Location: It was nice to be right on the Seawall. We were close to the beach and Pleasure Pier.
It took a while to check in as there was only one employee at the front desk when we arrived. Upon arriving in our room I went into the bathroom to find black mold in the shower and on the ceiling above the shower. I went to the front desk to complain. I was told I was being "upgraded", that just meant I was moved to another room that just had dirty pink mold in the shower instead of the black mold. The next morning we were awakened by maintenance and told they had to come in and clean our air conditioning unit. The front desk neglected to mention this to us so we had to stand around in the hall for twenty minutes while people went in and out of the room with loud equipment and smelly chemicals. By the time they finished the room smelled too bad to go back in. We were then moved to another room. Though there was no apparent mold in the bathroom there were huge stains on the carpet and what appeared to be dead bugs smashed on the bathroom wall. Then we were told people would be coming into the room to upgrade the phone system. There were broken floor tiles just sitting on the floor in the elevator, and everything was dirty. I'm not sure if some of the carpets or floors had been cleaned in a very long time. All in all this stay was not satisfactory. The hotel is in bad need of repair and a good cleaning job.

Great weekend! Excellent staff! All hotels need a swim up bar!
