“Not at all impressed.”

We were booked in this hotel to take a carnival cruise out of Galveston. We flew to Houston and got a driver to take us to Galveston. Well Don't book this hotel if you have no transportation. "It is not near ANYTHING!.. ". The front desk lady is rude and was not very helpful or informative. Mostly we got a shoulder shrug and that was about it. Very disappointed. One plus is.. it did have a hot free breakfast.

“No Beach - Only Rocks”

I assumed because this hotel was on the Seawall that we would have a sandy beach right across the road. This was not the case... when you went across the road there were a bunch of granite rocks and water. Not acceptable for my 4 & 6 year olds to play. Hotel was decent. Good food for free breakfast if it was stocked - they were out of pancake mix and oj when we went down and it took 20 minutes to get it restocked. Room smelled a little musty but was clean. Door to balcony was so rusty that I couldn't even get it to shut and lock correctly - my husband had to do it. Overall I was not impressed, but we were there for the beach. If you are there for Schlitterbahn or Moody Gardens it is not bad because it is super close to both.

We stayed Labor Day weekend (2011), and it was extremely pleasant. There was no huge crowd, like there usually is near the center of the island. With no restaurant or nightclub, the lobby was exceptionally quiet and peaceful. It was very relaxing watching the sunset, while sitting on the oceanview balcony. Also, there were no rowdy swimmers, since there's no sandy beach across the seawall... only huge granite rocks, which attracted only fishing enthusiasts and a few pedestrians. The staff was very friendly and courteous. They served delicious breakfasts in the dining room, which included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, biscuits and gravy, in addition to all of the usual continental cuisine. There's no valet parking here, which is just fine with me. The parking lot is right there in front, and I ALWAYS love parking my own car. After my visit here, I give Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites an A- on everything. And I'm looking forward to booking many more reservations here!

“Stay at the Holiday Inn Express-Seawall, Galveston, TX”

The staff made our stay! They all had good senses of humor and were very accomodating. Our reservations were made and did not include an oceanside view or balcony but they had one available and just gave us the free upgrade. That made our stay because we spent a lot of time sitting on the balcony and watching the pelicans and dolphins. Their breakfast buffett was nice, but don't expect an IHOP quality breakfast. It filled us up and got us ready for the day though. It is a nice place to stay and we enjoyed our visit to the coast

“Lovely”

Great hotel, gorgeous room. Right across the street from the beach and right down the road from the Rainforest Cafe and many other things to do. Great deal! I will definitely go back!

“Not the best experience and I travel for a living. Will not be back.”

The receptionist was rude. The description says "beach across the street", its actually located across the street two miles up the road. AC didn't work properly in the room. Coke machine doesn't work on the fourth floor, and the receptionist wasn't helpful at all with refunding my money. The room didn't get cleaned until 5:30pm. I wont be back.

From the entrance to the 3rd floor, everything was nice, fresh, tasteful "hotel" decor and clean. Opening our room, we were in awe how spacious and beautiful a standard room was w/nice amenities. We will go back!

“Nice hotel--but NO beach access.”

This was a nice hotel with a good breakfast. Be aware that even though it is on the Seawall it does not have beach access.... because they have had to build up the sand against the seawall since hurricane Ike. So, you can cross the street and see giant boulders but not sand. You have to drive either a few miles in either direction in order to access sandy beach.
