Worth every penny

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the Galvez. The hotel is beautiful and the pool is amazing. The service was top notch as they surprised us with a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate our special day. We will definitely be returning.

Great pool, though we wished the swim up bar would've been open at night. Beautiful hotel, but rooms were on the smaller side. Bathtub was dirty when we arrived. Great location.

$300.00+ for a room the size of a closet.

Posted May 19, 2015
Pros: Facilities over all was beautiful. Easy beach access Service was good
Cons: Size of room Food was good but again overpriced. Offer breakfast in room charge. Parking
Location: Beach just across the street. Strand area near. Cruise terminals near Pleasure Pier near
Over all experience could have been rated very good except the price for our room being a closet No breakfast included in the $300.00 charge Over priced for the quality of the room. No desk, just a counter with a chair Had to use the counter to blow dry hair, put on make up. Bath room equally as small. This was our 42nd wedding anniversary and wanted to stay at a quality hotel on the beach. Overall the hotel is a beautiful place but they forgot to renovate the sleep rooms. We could have stayed at the Hilton Hotel down the street also on the beach and paid $180.00 per night and had a breakfast included. The bellmen and restaurant staff were great. Check in was good.

Great Hotel

Pros: Everything
Cons: Shower
Location: Good location
Everything was perfect except for a very leaky shower. Glass shower door too open at hinge to keep shower water in shower.

DON'T STAY HERE WITH YOUR PETS

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Staff needs to learn hospitality in the 21st century. If you are pet friendly then be pet friendly. Own up to your mistakes.
We had an awful experience with the staff over our two 10-lb chihuahuas. Supposedly it is a pet friendly hotel. They put us in on the "hypoallergenic" floor -- which smelled of mold as though it had flooded and need the carpet pulled up -- then moved us 24-hours into our stay. As we were waiting for the bellboy to move our things, we were told we could not wait in the lobby with our small dogs. The staff was rude, unhelpful, chaotic and alienating. We will never go back to the Galvez again -- which is nothing but a wedding mill for white heteretosexuals.

Beautiful, historic hotel

Posted May 12, 2015
Pros: Historic feel and welcoming staff.
Cons: Our bath was small with a slow draining tub.
Location: Near the seawall and the Pleasure pier. Only about a mile to the bay and the strand- shopping, dining and sightseeing.
This hotel is located right across the street from the gulf coast. It is a beautifully restored historic hotel. Rooms were comfortable, with nice appointments. The lobby is spacious and relaxing. All of the employees that we interacted with were wonderful. Free use of bicycles. We ordered room service for breakfast and it was delivered quickly and everything was delicious. Nice pool and spa area with protection from the wind. Free parking in a garage next to the hotel and free wireless.

Small room with a big view

Posted May 12, 2015
Our room was a bit small and the air conditioner was preset so it wasn't possible to make it cooler. Loved the hotel lobby and dining. We really enjoyed the pool/hot tub. The location near the Seawall was perfect for walking and enjoying the Gulf view.

Beautiful hotel, Teeny tiny rooms

Posted May 11, 2015
Pros: The lobby is beautiful. The spa is so lovely. The relaxation room is just so well... relaxing! I highly recommend spa treatments!
Cons: The standard rooms are too small especially for that high of a price. For $20 more you could stay at the San Luis for a much larger standard room.
Location: Great location, Pleasure Pier is walking distance and plenty of restaurants are within a few miles of either walking or driving.
While the hotel is gorgeous, the rooms are lacking. I found our room not only to be teeny tiny, but a bit on the dusty/dirty side. Our tub was not very clean. The window sill where the shutters are were dusty and had little bugs under the shutter. The spare blanket, sheet, and pillow smelled very stale and I worry were not clean although I had no choice but to let my 8 year old sleep with them on a cot we had to RENT because the beds were so tiny. I felt like I was sleeping on my son's bottom bunk at home, way too firm for my taste and my husband and I barely fit on one bed comfortably and we are both slim people. The room made me feel claustrophobic- I felt like we needed to only sleep and wash up there- no idling there, we needed to get out or we would be on top of each other and it was only the 4 of us- my husband, my 8 year old son, my 2 year old son, and myself. Later on at the pool.... the water is cold in the pool- it is not heated, even on a cool, overcast day. My kids were thrilled at the sight of a pool but quickly disappointed in the temperature of the water- way too cold to enjoy on a may cloudy morning or afternoon. We found ourselves sticking to the medium sized hot tub. I will note here that I found the pool staff to be unfriendly. I had to approach a waitress for food and beverages- she was not friendly and I seemed to be bothering her because I wanted to bill my food to our room- strange.

Luxurious and friendly

Gracious staff. Relaxing spa treatment. Massage the best ever. Walking distance to beach, Murdoch's, Fish Tails restaurant, Millers Seafood Grill, and Pleasure Pier.
