“will not go back to this hotel”
the hotel was ok but the wall was too thin and i did not get any rest because of my neighbor had there tv up to loud all night long.
“Good Value”
Very clean, friendly staff, modest but good breakfast, overall good value.
“howard johnson - galvy”
ok...so its a motel so of course you shouldnt expect perfection. Things i didnt like: you pay extra for an early check-in; the rooms are all accessible from outside, the maid service was poor, traffic can be bad, the light near the location takes forever if you are heading north on 45, the room had an odor, and its right by the railroad track. Things i liked: it was cheap and served its purpose.
“when vacationing on a budget it is a good motel at a reasonable price”
when vacationing on a budget it is a good motel at a reasonable price; it was good to have access to a small refrigerator, microwave and continental breakfast to also minimize cost of meals; staff was extra nice.
“it was okay I guess”
the front desk staff was very pleasant. the room was clean. the price was definitely not worth it and the hotel location was next to what smelled like a sewage. We could see lots of ducks swimming in the sewer pond and the phone and cable lines were just outside our window.
“Will go back.”
We needed a hotel close by Moody Garden. Good location, great price, and good people. We will be back.
“Won't stay there again.”
The room was clean, the bed comfortable but that was it. The breakfast area is also the office, no where to even sit and enjoy a coffee. Train tracks in the backyard. Convenient to the pier for cruising and that is all.
“Great hotel for a cruiser”
The hotel is clean with nice sized rooms. That to me is the most important thing. Is located within 5 minutes of the cruise terminal. You can park your car at the hotel and pay $10 per person for round trip ride to the terminal. Front door service, professional, and right on time to pick you up upon your return. The hotel breakfast is not good for the hearty appetite, but that would be my only complaint. I will stay there again if I cruise out of Galveston again.
“Excellent Pre and Post Cruise Fishing or Economy Location.....”
This hotel is located just off the causeway on your way too the Cruise terminal and fishing boats. It is about 5 miles from the beach. Hotels in Galveston are getting old and run down. If you are willing to pay $200+ per night, you can get a newer and nicer place by the beach. However, if your cruising or going fishing this is a very good place to stay. It's located on Harborside drive just a couple of miles west. It does set next to a Valaro Service station, but that is a convienent place to pick up a late night snack and buy your Texas lotto ticket. The hotel is older but has been kept up to date. The breakfast area is small but it works. The only two problems that I had were the occassional train wistle behind the hotel, it will happen a couple of times a night, and the thin walls allowed you to hear the neighbors mumbling. I solved that problem by keeping the bathroom exhaust fan on, as well as the AC unit...no problem after that. By the way, the AC worked very well. The beds were clean and comfortable as well as the bathroom. The shower was very hot and spacious. It felt great after a hard days fishing. If you want clean at a reasonable to lesser price on Galveston Island, this definately is the place to stay. I will stay here again. For this island, it is cheap...but nice. It's not the Ritz but it comes at a much better price. I would call it an upscale Motel 6.
“"Second Visit, Still A Great Deal"”
This was our second stay at this hotel. We were taking a family cruise and had a great stay the first time. The hotel was clean and located a couple of miles from the cruise terminal. We needed a good place to stay for one night before our cruise and for the price and location this is a great place. Very friendly and helpful staff.
