Big cheap rooms, uncomfortable bedding

Posted Dec 29, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, low rates.
Cons: Improve mattresses and pillows. Install some soundproofing options. Check doors for locking issues.
I said I would not recommend - I would to someone for whom price is paramount. We have stayed at this hotel several times, as they have a good location, the rooms are large, and the price is very good. The infrastructure is old and not terribly attractive but it is kept freshly painted and the carpeting is not terribly worn. Soundproofing is terrible - one hears every noise outside the door and lots of stomping around above and nearby. The staff at this hotel are friendly and respond to requests promptly (although to be fair we often stay during the off season so they're less pressed - at times we've stayed during summer vacation and sometimes they seem a bit grumpy.) Entering and parking is a bit dicey as you have to come down a narrow ramp and into the parking area past families with little ones with poor visibility. The main reason I had to knock them down stars is the state of the bedding. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable, and the pillows were lumpy. With more chains upping the quality of bedding (pillow top mattresses, etc.) this makes this hotel compare unfavorably. But the price is definitely better than nearby alternatives. Finally, the doors to our bathroom and would not close (and lock in the case of the balcony) without considerable effort. This could be a problem for those with small children or those with arthritis, etc.

I'm sorry you had problems with the door being hard to open/close. The very high humidity near the beach in Galveston, can at times cause swelling in doors. We appreciate your staying with us.

Great location with view

Posted Dec 28, 2014
Cons: Bathrooms a bit small
Location: Beach! A plethora of eating establishments!Beach!
2 night stay. No complaints. Breakfast fine as it was free. Why pay 2-4 times rate at fancy hotel? This hotel fit the bill. Clean, friendly and worth it!

Mediocre

Posted Dec 11, 2014
I think that this would be a great place to stay, if it were completely upgraded. The rooms are small, which is fine, but the entire motel looks as if it has seen better days. The "view of the ocean" is a partial view. However, they have a great breakfast buffet, and are located right across the street from the ocean.

I am sorry the 36' foot long rooms seemed small, we don't hear that much. The industry standard is closer to 32'. I hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for staying with us.

Clean, well stocked room. Organized, hot buffet Am

Posted Dec 4, 2014
Pros: Gulf views all rooms. Easy access to beach/sea wall. Am hot bkf. 7-10. Easy parking access to ground elevators.
Cons: New carpet 5th floor hallway & room 506. New fabric chairs, rm 506.
Location: Great location, close to cause way leading to main land. Many stores, restaurants, close by.
Noticed carpet hallway 5 floor, & room 506 needs replacing. Furniture in room needs reapostering, or good steam cleaning.

Hotel on seawall Boulevard.

Posted Nov 19, 2014
Pros: The staff friendly and accommodating.
Cons: They need to clean up the hotel and put more money into maintenance.
Staff is pleasant and kind. Hotel maintenance is poor and looking very frayed. The hotel is old and when the wind blows it is very noisy. So noisy that we requested and received another room. The second room in the morning at 6:30 AM the smoke detector went off consistently for an hour. We gave up and got up. We did mention it to them when we left. they did apologize but for us it was too late. Also we found they did not keep up with the food that was promised for the breakfast. Every day there was something missing.

The perfect place for a quiet weekend!

Posted Nov 17, 2014
Pros: Normally, hotels on the ocean front are musty smelling. Quality Inn was very pleasant smelling. It was a wonderful change from the last place.
Cons: Just needed a few touch ups and maybe clean the hallway carpets.
Location: We always got to Murdock's (typical tourist stuff, but the best one in Galveston). Our favorite restaurant is Miller's where you can relax beach side.
They were kind enough to upgrade our reservation to a larger room, even let us pick what floor! We had a nice view of the ocean which was wonderful, even though it was rainy and misty! We just got comfortable in our room and spent some nice quiet time together.

Nice hotel less nice desk staff

Posted Nov 14, 2014
Desk staff was on the verge of rude and check in time at 4 is late for us with no exception even if promised by phone.

I am unclear what you mean by rude, we take pride in being nice to our guests. It is the one thing that we have 100% control over, and we always want our guests to feel welcome. If a room is available, we would check you in at 7AM, and do so quite frequently. We never make a guest wait to check-in unless the room simply isn't ready. I think all of the previous posts are in agreement about the friendliness of the staff. I sure wish I had been able to speak to you about this before you left. If you would like to call me about this, I would be more than happy to speak to you.

Close to Galveston Island Convention Center

Posted Nov 3, 2014
We stayed here for oni-con, it was very convenient because we could walk from the convention to our hotel and didn't have to fight over parking. They had a conteniental breakfast in the morning too. The hotel did have a bit of a funky smell to it and we could hear the people walking around in the room above us but we still enjoyed our stay and had a great time! We would stay here again for next year's convention.

Oni-Con has become a great event, it just gets bigger every year. It was even cooler this year because it coincided with Halloween. I am glad to hear you had a good time. Thanks for staying with us.
