“Lovely Hotel”
One night was not enough to take advantage of what the resort offers. The hotel is comfortable and well appointed. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is right on the beach with key stores near by and easy access to all island sites. Off season rates are very reasonable.
“Beautiful at Christmastime”
This resort was very nice. The lobby was decorated with gorgeous Christmas trees everywhere. The weather was cold and windy, yet the outdoor pool was so warm you could swim very comfortably. I enjoyed going at night with all of the cheery outdoor lights and my sis and I had the pool and jacuzzis to ourselves. I liked slipping behind the waterfall and relaxing in the jacuzzi behind it. We had a nice view of the Gulf which would be stunning with sunshine and sunsets in better weather. The beds were comfortable too. The only complaint is that the shower area has no light so you can't see well when showering and the drain plug wouldn't stay up so I took it out. The ambiance of this resort is so nice and the staff offered to take pictures of us by the Christmas trees. I would rate this hotel high because of the elegance and awesome outdoor pool, jacuzzi, waterfall, and slide. We stayed in a hotel the next day in san antonio for the same price and it felt like a regular, boring hotel. Definitely stay here if you come to Galveston. It was one of my best memories here.
“Galveston done Perfectly!”
We planned a Galveston Girls Weekend following Thanksgiving as the guys were all in the woods! The San Luis was simply great! The heated pool with swim up bar was our favorite spot! The hotel and staff are truly top shelf as far as service and courtesy! Location is great and there's a shuttle service to the Strand for wonderful shopping! We are already planning to do this again next year!
“Best place to stay in Galveston”
We enjoyed out Thanksgiving stay at San Luis Resort, can't wait to go back next year.
“Second Time Around”
This was the second time at San Luis. The first was our honeymoon. The hotel is going through an update, so the furniture throughout the hotel does not match. When we first arrived, the front office could not find our reservation, and then looked at us like lepers for going through expedia. Once they found it, we were given Room 623. The air conditioner was so loud and old that we turned it off and opened the patio door. Once the balcony was open, it was right over the kitchen exhaust so it was loud and hot. I called the front desk and they sent an engineer up. The engineer was so nice, but there was nothing he could do, so he arranged a room change. We moved to 618, which was much better. The beds are not comfortable, and I figured out that the 6th floor is the "Expedia" floor, where you get discounted rooms with a less than desirable view of the roof. We went to the pool bar every night to relax, and the towel\pool staff was awesome and super-friendly. The pool bar staff acted like I was wasting their time and bothering them. I complained to the manager and he said he had several complaints about it already! The service at this property is amazing, but I am surprised that the owner, Tilman Ferttitta does not use more of the money coming in to update a few things.
“Will come back next time”
The hotel is clean and don't have wet smell as other front beach hotels I 've experienced. We asked for rollaway bed and the lady brought in within 5 minutes. The room is clean except for the carpet, they need to vacuum it more throughly, we stepped on some sharp point wild grass and found some on the carpet, without this problem I would give it 5 points. I wish the hotel's garage has elevator and connect to the hotel so we don't have to walk under rain.
“Hope to make this an annual get-a-way for us!!”
Loved loved loved it!! Initially was assigned to a lower floor (6) but asked to be moved up.... they moved us up to the 14th floor... It was wonderful!! Great views of the beach, ocean and pool below. Room was very clean. Bar inside and out served great drinks and the staff was very friendly. Had a wonderful breakfast in the Cafe and a super steak dinner in the Steak House Restaurant. Only complaint would be that at the Steak House the room was very small and was packed wall to wall with people... expected to have a more intimate dinner with my husband. It was loud next to the bar.... BUT the food was AWESOME!
“Words cant explain how great it was”
San Luis is like my second home it was so comfy and the staff were so nice it was awesome..we will go to Galveston just to stay there ;)
“ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL”
GOT A ROOM WITH A BALCONY FACING OCEAN AND OVER POOL AREA FOR A MOTHER/DAUGHTER WEEKEND . THIS IS MY SECOND TRIP TO THE SAN LUIS AND I WILL GO BACK. WE HAD THE MOST RELAXING AND PEACEFUIL TIME
“planning to go back”
We had a great weekend there and plan on going back for another exciting weekend.
