Great hotel stay

Posted Sep 6, 2014
Pros: Atmosphere, décor, bedding.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Blocks from several restaurants, the cruise terminal, and one block from the strand.
We took a chance with this hotel for a getaway weekend, and it was great. The one surprise was that it is not a historic hotel, it is a warehouse that was remodeled in the 70's. Regardless, the atmosphere is fantastic, the old world décor was great, and the bed with full bedding was plush. Very cool rooftop bar as well. For the money, this is a great choice for a Galveston stay. A pool is available at the hotel Galvez, their sister property, and there are free shuttles available.

Beautiful historical hotel

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Our room was on the corner on the 4th floor. There was quite a bit of road noise during the night. But staff and hotel was very nice, clean, informative and welcoming. We will definitely be back for another visit.

Access to a really nice pool & swim-up bar!

Posted Aug 24, 2014
My boyfriend and I went for a spontaneous weekend getaway and were pleasantly surprised at what the Tremont House had to offer. Aside from the SUPER comfy king size bed and great downtown location, they provide a free shuttle service to their sister hotel next to the beach. This is where we enjoyed a luxurious pool, jacuzzi, and swim-up bar. Can't wait to go again!

Beautiful old hotel near The Strand. Charming!

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Cons: Our floor/room near the bar on the roof was pretty noisy. Lots of traffic goes by there and some people get very loud in the hallway.
We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is lovely and charming. Breakfast was excellent. Everything was very clean. It was very convenient to The Strand.

Amazing hotel! Everything was very nice and clean, friendly staff and they have an amazing rooftop bar. We also got to enjoy a beautiful jazz band every night with great cocktails.

For the money spent - not great

Food in the restaurant was not good. My "queen bed" was NOT a queen size. My bed at home is a queen and the bed they claimed was a queen was much smaller than the bed I sleep in every night.

Tremont House was okay but I would not stay again.

Valet $17, small room and no window to outside, and you have to shuttle 5 minutes away to go to the pool & hotel Galvez... My son and I stayed and we were disappointed at the room, smaller bathroom and that cable channels stayed searching for service... I would never let Expedia pick hotel again without sight!

Great trip to Galveston

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: Very clean, comfortable and fresh. High ceilings and room furnishings really nice. Very friendly staff from the valets to the front desk to room serv.
Cons: A small workout room in the hotel would be nice. The facilities at the Galvez are very nice but it adds too much time to a workout to go over there.
Location: Nice location. It's nice to be away from the crowds and noise at the beach. Great restaurants in the area as well.
Just had a one night trip to Galveston on business. Very nice, historic hotel with a lot of class and character. Room was very attractive, quiet and had a great, large bathroom. Located near the best restaurant in town, Rudy and Paco's. Also just off the historic Strand, a great place to walk around and check out historic architecture. Staff was very professional and immediately moved me to a beautiful room with an exterior view after initially being placed in an interior room with a view of the interior atrium - not really all that bad either. The roof top bar, the lobby bar and cafe are all excellent. Eggs Benedict for breakfast was superb. The facilities available at the Hotel Galvez (also owned by Wyndham) - accessible every 30 minutes in front of the Tremont House - were over the top: resort style pool, swim-up bar, private cabanas, etc. I will definitely return to the Tremont House the next time I'm in the area!
