“Sometimes Cheap is too Cheap”

Man on duty at the front desk when we checked in didn't even say hello or can I help you. He just shoved to forms at me to fill out. When he got the key cards ready he tossed them on the counter and turned around to walk away. Customer service at its finest. Once we got to the rooms we were suprised as well. The 1st room was ok (we got 2 rooms) but it was hot and smelled funny. The second room was worse. When the light was turned on a huge roach was sitting in the middle of the table. The sheets were scratchy and hard. The beds were lumpy and hard. The pillows - well one bed had 3 and one bed had 2. The bed with two was mine - 1 pillow was thin as a sheet of paper and the other was hard and smelled funny. I have stayed in some pretty bad motels before but this one ranks right up there in the top 3. And to think - I could have stayed and the Hilton for just a little more per night. Learned my lesson about motels in Galveston!

Area recommendations
Most hotels are on the sea wall which is nice. Just make sure you stay farther east on the island. Seems much nicer over that way.
Dining
When you are on the Island you have to go to Shrimp & Stuff. Their shrimp gumbo was amazing as well as everything else we tried. Worth every dime and more food then I could handle!

“Cheap and thats it!”

This hotel was the cheapest in the area and there is a reason. the owner/manager and the family are very poor with customers (actually somewhat rude), after hurricane Ike it looks like they just painted over all the mold and dirt and now it is all coming back through. More of a cover up than a remodel. No beach view but very close to the beach so I guess that was a positive. If you need a place to sleep for a night it is tollerable but for a vacation i would not stay here.

“Not Impressed”

All staff at the hotel were VERY rude. They should really think about going into another line of work that doesn't involve dealing with the public !!!!

“Close to seawall and several nice restaurants.”

Very satisfied with the convenient location. The rooms were relatively clean and enjoyed the wood and tile floors being so close to the beach. The only maintenance thing we had issues with was the slow drain in the bath tub and the TV not getting a real good signal on all channels. I didn't mention this to the desk clerk as we were only there for a brief stay. I did miss not having a small coffee pot in the room but they did have coffee at the hotel lobby in the morning. The pool was very clean. Overall for the price and convenient location I would not have a problem staying here in the future.

Dining
Dining close by with a great view of the beach.
Outdoors or beach
The water in Galveston was the clearest I've ever seen it in my lifetime down here. We enjoyed jettiy fishing off the seawall.

“" Bugs in Bed, still itching "”

I'm not a picky person, I could sleep anywhere, but I am not coming back here again. There are bed bugs that won't let you sleep and leave you itching for a week. Not a very clean hotel. I believe a husband and wife own hotel, well, husband is not very professional. Do not recommend.

“not impressed”

I will never go back to that hotel. The costumer service was terrible. It looks like they don’t care if you are a costumer or not. The inside room was clean but the outside area smell bad and looks dirty. They have a good location. The breakfast was ok for the price.

Area recommendations
Galveston is a nice little town. The old part of the town has a lot of history. Not so far from there you can see those cruise ships passing by. Delicious are the restaurants around that area. Sea food is the specialty and please don’t ask for pizza or Italian food. I recommended my friends to visit Mood Garden Resort. The water park is amazing. Don’t miss the tropical forest and the aquarium. The kids and adults will follow in love with many attractions they have.

“Affordable and clean”

This hotel was affordable and clean. It is only one block from the beach so the location is great. It is not one of the fancy hotels on Galveston Island. Fridge and microwave in the room but no coffeemaker. The breakfast in the lobby was good, my husband even made his own waffle. Only problem we had was the people upstairs were noisy. We couldn't hear voices only the footsteps of the kids running back and forth. Next time, we'll ask for a room on the third floor. I would definitely stay here again as it's in a good neighborhood and good location and the rooms were very clean and comfy.

Area recommendations
Beach - It's worth the money to get a hotel close to the beach. You just walk across the street and spend all day at the beach or walking up and down the seawall. The Strand - Also, make sure you plan a shopping day on the Strand (the downtown area), wear your walking shoes, lots of quaint shops and restaurants.
Getting around
If the Seawall is packed with people and cars, use Broadway. This street goes down the middle of town, parallel to the seawall, then you can cut through town to get to your hotel/restaurant without spending a lot of time in traffic.

“Do not stay here!! Warning!!”

This is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at. First of all the service is the worst I have ever experienced. We called and said that we would be checking in late and gave an approximate time for when we would be there. When we arrived there was no one at the front desk and we kept ringing the bell but no one would come to the desk. We finally started calling over and over again until a lady came up to the desk half asleep in her pj's. She was very rude and short with us. She handed us our keys and then left the desk. We then went up to our room. You access you room on the outside of the building. When we got to our room the door was already open wide. We then turned around to the parking lot to see a man walking around checking everyone's door handles! He was trying to break into the hotel guests cars! This hotel for sure holds the number 1 spot as the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at! Though it may be clean, the lack of service and security should make you STAY AWAY!

“Will not go back”

I was very disappointed with the hotel & staff. To start off, In our comments we put that the rooms be adjoinin or at least close together...one was on the 1st floor & the other on the 3rd floor. Our itinerary stated that we could check in after 4pm...we made it the after 4pm (closer to 4:15) & our room was not ready. There were housekeepers still in it & they told us it would at least be 15 more minutes. When asked to get another room that was ready, a room was given but not the type of room we already paid for. We were suppose to have king size beds & ended up with queen size beds & very small room. Housekeeping never cleaned our room or gave us clean towels. (Thank goodness we brought some of our own!) Our key cards had to be re-programmed almost every time we tried to re-enter our rooms. The hotel staff, especially the folks at the front desk were very rude! The best part of this experience was the Texas shaped waffles...even though it took 30 minutes in line to make them!
