“Grand service, location and value.”
We were traveling with two teenage grandchildren and couldn't have had better service or location for the Amber Bay B&B. Very efficient but relaxed and friendly hosts.
“Just ok”
The staff was attentive and the food ok. Bedroom and bathroom were extremely small. Location was approx. 2 miles from downtown Galway and 1/4 mile from ocean.
“Good hotel!”
The hotel was a little difficult to find - thank you to the business owner who gave directions to us. The room was clean and suitable, yet small. The breakfast that was included with the room was delicious - thank you!
“alright...”
We stayed at the Amber Bay for 2 nights. It is about a 5 min. drive to the shops and pubs downtown. The staff were quite friendly and gave good advice on where to shop, eat, etc. The B&B was quiet and comfortable. The only issue was that the bathroom smelled a bit like mold or mildew. It didn't bother us much but if you have allergies it may be an issue.
“Hard to find”
Nice B&B but difficult to find. The street listed is not well known by locals and GPS did not recognize it either. However, it is located just off a major route.
“Would go back in a heartbeat”
This B&B was wonderful. Since we had GPS, finding it was no problem. The room was spacious, quiet and clean, and our hostesses were extremely friendly and provided excellent information on the area. Breakfast was good, but would have liked a little more variety (same every day). Would definitely go back.
“"Great B&B on the waterfront w/ really cute rooms and great service"”
We visited Ireland the first week of June 2010. Beautiful weather. Galway was our last stop after a little over a week in Dublin, Cork and Killarney. Amber House was our favorite accomodation of 4 on the trip. Great cosy room, we had a view of the bay, though not all rooms do. Staff was very friendly. Free internet and wifi that was actually accessible without a line! Great breakfast included. The "full irish" cooked individually to order, with cereal, bread and yogurt out. I left a bag full of souvenirs at the hotel when I checked out and before I could even call to see if they had found them, they had already emailed me to check my home address so they could mail the stuff.
“Would Recommend this B&B to Everyone”
This B&B was a wonderful experience. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We asked directions to several nearby tourist attractions, and we were given the exact route to our destination. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. Breakfast the next morning was a traditional full Irish breakfast, and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend staying at this B&B if you ever stay in Galway. Galway Bay was across the street and it was a perfect view. Truly a remarkable stay in all respects.
“Very Helpful”
We were greeted with, "We were unable to reach you. Our furnace went out and have made arrangements for you to stay next door." The B&B next door appeared to be very comparable. It is a very nice B&B. Steve was very helpful and would ask, "Is there any thing we can help with while you are gone?" We couldn't be happier. The complementary breakfast was excellent and very filling.
“More like a hotel then a B&B...which was good!”
Most B&Bs in Ireland are small and a bit cramped but quaint. The Amber Bay guest house was great because it was more like a really nice hotel, but with a homemade breakfast! The service was wonderful, our room was so nice and decorated in a very modern way. There is free Wi-Fi and a computer that you can use to connect to the internet. The Guest house is within a little cluster of other places to stay and about a mile, mile and a half from Galway city center. My boyfriend and I were able to take a few nice walks along the prom from the Amber Bay into Salthill. Room also had a mini fridge, TV and a DVD player!
