Great B & B in great location!Posted Jul 15, 2013
Pros: Location, people, food, cleanliness, and comfort.
Cons: I can't think of anything, it was excellent.
Location: The city centre has excellent restaurants and live traditional Irish music. A short drive away was the very famous Abbey with it's beautiful gardens.
I have nothing but superlatives to say about the Buttermilk Lodge Guesthouse. We were greeted at check-in with tea, coffee and sweet bread which was very refreshing after a long day on the road. The staff was excellent, food delicious and the room was very comfortable. The location was perfect whether walking to the city centre or driving to some of the nearby sites. At the end of our stay we had to leave very early in the morning, when we returned to our room the night before leaving we found a very kind note with a generous breakfast to go for the three of us.

Warm & cosy. A la carte breakfast scrummy. Tea & coffee making facilities appreciated, plus fruit cake! Wide selection of local history books greatly enhanced our understanding & appreciation of the area. Attentive & helpful hosts but not intrusive. Great place to stay but shame about the weather!

Great ExperiencePosted Mar 19, 2013
We drove 48 miles from Galway because they had 6 reviews and a 5.0 rating. They were right. One of the best B&B's I have every stayed in. 5 star everything so I will tell you the extras: salmon on the menu for breakfast as a choice from the traditional Irish breakfast, tub and shower in our room, very helpful in having every restaurant in town's menu in the lobby, drinking glass variety in lobby. I live in Texas; I am not the owner but I would stay here again.

Easy to find, room clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful in advising me where to eat in Clifden and how to find the places they recommended. Easy walk into town - coming back is uphill! Asked for a bacon sandwich (which wasn't on the breakfast menu) and received a fab sarnie. Visitor lounge is a nice touch and they provide glasses and a corkscrew so you can bring your own wine back, which is thoughtful. Downsides? Not many - the TV was so high up it was impossible for me to switch on but I wasn't there to watch TV, so not an issue. Didn't spot the specials board for the breakfast until I was on my way out, which was a shame. I'd definitely be happy to stay there again.

Fantasic B&B in ClifdenPosted Aug 8, 2012
Location: Located a 5min quiet walk outside the village Buttermilk Lodge is in a perfect location
We stayed at the Buttermilk Lodge for a long weekend. It is the best B&B I have ever stayed in. The rooms are clean and very well decorated - you also feel you have a huge amount of privacy similar to any hotel. Best of all was the breakfast with a special every morning and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. With only a 5 min walk into the centre of the village it’s a perfect location. There were little details here that made the stay feel very special - chocolates on the bed, walking guides for guests and tea and coffee on tap in the sitting room. I will definitely be back here again and I couldn’t recommend it enough to anyone - couples, families, tourists. Everyone will be well impressed with this place!!
