“Very nice hotel but a long walk into town”

We stayed at the Menlo Park Hotel on the first leg of our 9 day Ireland trip. The hotel was very nice and the full Irish breakfast that was included in our package was quite good. The staff was very pleasant and very helpful with directions into town. The only negative aspect was the long walk into town. But perhaps with better weather the walk would have not been as difficult.

“Wonderful stay in Galway”

A very good property with very courteous and helpful staff. The restaurant and pub were great. Good music on the weekend. I would stay there again. Great value.

“My Stay At Menlo Park”

The people at the hotel were outstanding from the front desk to the waitresses. They couldn't do enough for me. I would definitely recommend this as THE place to stay in County Galway.

“Convenient Location”

Menlo Park is about a 10 minute walk from downtown, so less noisy than being in the thick of things, but close enough to walk to everything. The hotel could use an updating or renovation as it is looking a bit dated, but the staff was very helpful and the rooms were comfortable.

“Very disappointing”

This is the first time I've given a bad review to a hotel on Expedia -- normally the hotels I've booked through here have been very good. With Menlo Park, I felt the photographs were a little deceptive -- the furnishings and fittings of the hotel are rather more tired than the images suggest. The biggest problem, however, was that the hotel was massively overheated. We spent two nights in February there, with the radiators turned off and the windows open and the room was still too hot. When we raised the issue on checking out, it seemed as if the staff knew there was an ongoing problem, but nothing was being done about it. It is possible to walk to the city centre from the hotel, but it's not a particularly nice walk. It's safe, certainly, but the busy main road goes through a rather dreary and depressing part of town. On the positive side, the hotel staff were very helpful and welcoming and the hotel was relatively inexpensive. But I would not stay at the Menlo again and certainly wouldn't recommend it, I'm afraid.
