Pros: Clean, comfortable room. Generous breakfast buffet.
Cons: Better management.
Location: It's an easy twenty minute walk from the center of Galway. It's right on a bus line, as well.
The Connacht is located a walkable distance from the busy center of Galway. The room was good, as was the included breakfast, which is served as a buffet. Dinner in the main restaurant was a mixed bag: the food was good, but the service was very slow, apparently because of an odd division of labor between the order-taker and the food-bringers. More than twenty minutes after we placed our order, the former came by to ask how things were and was surprised to discover that we'd not yet received our food. Fortunately, the kids were in a good mood and we had been playing Hangman to pass the time. But similar dysfunctions appeared at every turn, suggesting that the staff, for all their good will, are poorly managed--that the operational systems are fragmented and inefficient. So, be prepared for delays at check-in, on arriving at the restaurant, on getting your meal . . . . The kids also balked at the, to us, unusual requirement that everyone wear a swim cap in the pool, regardless of hair length. I don't know if this is typical for hotels in Ireland.

Hotel Staff Very HelpfulPosted Aug 14, 2014
Pros: The location, the facilities, the restaurant and, most of all, the staff.
Location: Two bus stops near by. Go to the road and turn right or left; your choice. Grab the #409 bus and get off by the bus stop. There's lots to do there!
I was most impressed by the staff's desire to help out. The room we were first assigned to had 3 single beds whereas I'd requested a single and a double. Once I informed them of this, however, they very graciously prepared another one for us; no fuss at all. We also had some missing luggage and the hotel customer care representative was instrumental in locating it. Awesome service! The restaurant staff were also excellent, as was the food.

Good Family HotelPosted Jul 17, 2014
The Connacht is a large, modern hotel about twenty minutes walk from the centre of Galway. The staff are very helpful, welcoming and efficient. All the facilities are clean and in good condition, personally I found the bed too firm, but the room was spacious and comfortable. I would recommend the hotel for those with young families, but if you want a quiet break it's probably not the best choice. There was a lot of noise late in the evening, mostly from children, for example, one night I had to go the corridor at 1:20am to ask for quiet having been woken several times by a young girl banging on another room's door calling for her Daddy. Thankfully, we hadn't booked breakfasts as there was a long queue and the restaurant was also noisy, the large bar was lively in the evenings and had several big screens displaying sports. There is a nice Italian restaurant, recently opened, which we found to be very good in all respects. There is plenty of free parking which is a big advantage over more central hotels.

Nice hotel dirty poolPosted Jul 13, 2014
The hotel was nice but you could catch the clap from their pool. There was band aids and bathroom paper in the water :(

Nice hotel, great bar food but beds like bricksPosted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: Liked the pool and the bar food. Nice gardens as well.
Cons: Could be doing with a good freshen up
Location: Jut outside the town, easy access to most places from here. Good location.
Just back from a stay in this hotel. My little girl loved the pool and so did I. The food in the Bar is amazing and the staff are great as well. The breakfast is ok, a bit of a cattle market. The worst thing for me was the beds. It was that hard I could hardly get up in the morning. Other than that we really loved Galway and will be back although next time I think we will stay in SaltHill.
