Wanted to stay longer!Posted Feb 16, 2009 on Hotels.com
My partner and I stayed at the House Hotel in Galway for a short mid week break in February. We were impressed by the hotel, the staff, our room and the standard were all high. The Breakfast included in the room rate was lovely and the waiters and waitresses polite and professional. The hotel was in an excellent location for exploring Galway City and we were only sorry we hadnt booked for longer!

Does not quite live up to its potentialPosted Sep 23, 2008 on Hotels.com
My first impression of the hotel was very good given its central location (albeit no car park, but discounted parking at nearby multistorey) and the attractive and modern decor of the reception/lounge area. However, when we reached our room (a 'comfy' one) we were disappointed. For the money we had paid it was quite small, the bedroom carpet was wet (for some reason), the shower leaked and there were cobwebs on the light fittings. We asked to change rooms. The receptionist was very apologetic, and we were able to change room, and in fact we were upgraded. This room was much better, as probably the standard of room I was expecting for the price we paid. Breakfast was good. All in all, the hotel is attractively fitted out, the staff are pleasant, but somehow the finishing touches are not quite there for a 'boutique' hotel and as such I don't think for the price we paid it was of sufficient value for money.

Enjoyed our stayPosted Jul 18, 2008 on Hotels.com
Lovely hotel with a great location. Staff very helpful and frendly. Excellent restraurant. Rooms were very very clean and maintained. Shower cubicle was unfortunatly was too small in our 'Cosy' room. Car Park required a 200m walk. No designated 'Drop Off' point outside hotel - all double yellow lines

a memorable stayPosted Sep 7, 2007
Visited the hotel end August, to have a weekend with my mum and to join a hen party, whose guests were staying at another hotel. We had a lovely stay, great location, wonderful food and wine and staff could not have been more pleasant. Would definitely return to Galway and this hotel. Its a little haven.

Excellent modern hotelPosted Aug 18, 2007
The hotel is located only a couple of minutes walk from the city centre, and is one of the funkiest hotels I've ever stayed in. The rooms are well equipped, ultra modern and very very comfortable. Top class hotel which I'll definitely use again in the future.

Brennan's Yard has had a make-overPosted Jun 1, 2007
Brennan's Yard Hotel has had a make-over and is now called The House Hotel. The public area is bright and glassy, and my room was comfortable. It was epitomised by the internet-linked TV (which I managed to work) playing quiet music when I arrived. The bathroom was set up for disabled access with a tiny basin with no plug and low mirror. I had to kneel to see my face in it when I shaved. Never mind, the full Irish breakfast that followed kept me going until the evening.

Lives up to its descriptionPosted Mar 30, 2007
The House Hotel has been recently refurbished and the result is a definate 4 star location with very pleasant decor, good staff and a nice touch of character. The hotel maintains a subtle theme of being a "home" and the little touches are nice. A welcome note on arrival, a newspaper on request every day, a cute little chocolate crackle and strawberry in your room after every service, slippers, dressing gowns ... lots of things like that which do give it a nice cosy feeling. I had a large queen size bed with which I could find no fault. The room featured a large screen TV although a few channels were not set up and some of these new network based TV systems in hotels have bugs which make you wonder why they cant just do it the old fashioned way. The bathroom was complete adequate with great water pressure and temperature control in the shower. In Ireland the last thing you want is a shower anything less than hot and consistent. Everything in the hotel was very tasteful, it tried and suceeded to put out a little bit of class and I definately put it up there with some of the best 4 star hotels I've stayed at. Breakfast was included in my rate and it was everything you could ask for. I do prefer a freshly cooked hot breakfast rather than fishing my bacon and eggs out of a buffet and that is what the House Hotel provides.
