Decent hotelPosted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: Location and good room size
Cons: safe that works
Location: good location in Nimes for parking and walking to the sights.
Good hotel in a good location in Nimes for parking and walking to the sights. Safe didn't work which was annoying

Nice designPosted Feb 9, 2014
Location: Not very close to the public parking and the hotel faces an extremely narrow street.
Nice front desk staff, nice old-fashioned interior design, and a somewhat spacious room. The breakfast seems too expansive, so we didn't take it. Beware that there is no separation between the restroom and the bedroom. It seems that the hotel charges for in-room coffee, too.

Lovely staircase, good location. Bad showerPosted Jan 1, 2014
Pros: Historical staircase and courtyard was beautiful.
The bed was very comfy, the rooms decorated nicely, however the bathroom were very tired. The shower was hand held only and there was no shower screen which meant that the water went everywhere. They need to renovate the bathrooms or at least provide a wall bracket so you can tether the shower head to the wall. Good location in old part of nimes, staff were fantastic and very helpful in recommending restaurants etc.

Early check out the next morning no hassles they called a cab. I will be back soon as possible as didnt get a chance to explore Nimes this time. There are a few loely bars and resturants near by. A great find - thanks expedia and thanks Hôtel Marquis de La Baume.

Basement room in a medieval staircasePosted Oct 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was probably one of our worst hotel experiences on this now over two month trip. This hotel is very old and was renovated, which was all very well. However, we were put in a ground floor (basement) room right off the reception area in a stone stairwell. The room itself was okay except that it had no air conditioning. The big problem was the stone staircase and hallways. Every whisper, every footstep going up the stone steps, was magnified and resonated. People conversing on the way to their rooms above us sounded like they were shouting over megaphones. It did not quiet down enough for us to get to sleep until nearly midnight and we had a 5 AM wake up time. We would not stay here again, which is a shame because the location was fine, the staff was fine, and the hotel could be an old gem.

Nimes ExperiancePosted Sep 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel whilst nice internaly is very difficult to find due to name externaly being different to the booking details. Lots of stairs to the room despite a lift to the floor but then many small stairs due to old style building.Room was small but well presented and air con is covered by the curtains so it is expose your self to the neighbours or suffer reduced air con. Due to the hotel being in a small one way street with no parking and room for one car it is difficult to stop and unload at busy times and car parks are some distance from the hotel. Breafkast is ok but expensive compared to other hotel breakfasts that we had on our trip but location of the courtyard is nice. One receptionist spoke good English but the other did not but still all very freindly. Bathroom had been refurbished at some stage but quality of workmanship is poor and looks half finished in places, but a nice touch in the room was coffee making facilities and a mini bar. would look for another more convenient loaction if i was to visit the city again as this hotel is some distance from the main areas but did have some nice restutrants localy.

Unique, historic courtyard hotelPosted Aug 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
Very central hotel, close to all the Roman attractions of Nimes. Lovely, quiet courtyard building. Good breakfast. Helpful staff.

Great hotel, needs wifiPosted Aug 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
Nice room and pretty good location near the edge of old town. Reasonable walking distance from all the sites and very close to good restaurants. Wifi in the rooms is an extra charge which is pretty ridiculous these days and breakfast was not included though. Staff was nice and helpful. A bit of a walk from the train station if you have heavy bags but still doable.

Don't think it Justifies a 4-star RatingPosted Aug 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
I've stay here before and I'll stay here again but I think it is a little over-rated. The location is excellent and it is very quite. If you arrive by car it is complicated. There is no reserved "drop-off" place to unload your luggage. The nearest parking is about 300m at a shopping center. This is not bad, but you should know this before you arrive!

Hotel Marquis de Baume - just awful!Posted Aug 7, 2013
The roof was leaking into buckets. The staff did not try to assist with luggage. The room was ridiculously small, with few facilities. The bathroom had mildew on the shower curtain and on the disintegrating particleboard fascia of the bathtub which was very grubby. And there was a bag of USED tampons hanging in the toilet! The general upkeep of the hotel was incredibly poor and the situation was far from ideal. I think this hotel would be lucky to get a one or two star rating. It is far from being 4 stars!
