Great stayPosted Nov 20, 2013
Pros: The little extra touches felt special and not like a cookie cutter hotel.
Cons: Breakfast selection. I would have enjoyed toast more then the tasteless oatmeal offered.
Location: Antique store were of an interest to me.
The room was very clean as were the facilities. The parking lot was in full view of the rooms so you could always view your vehicle. The decor of the room was refreshing and fun. The hotel offered the use of a fluffy terry cloth robe to use, with the option to buy if you wanted it, There was a snack bar available in the room too. The extra touches like the wine glasses on table made you feel special and wanted. The attached store was also a great touch. The only thing that wasn't up to parr was the breakfast, which turned out to be a bowl of tasteless oatmeal. I would recommend this hotel but don't stay for the breakfast.

Pros: Room size, pet-friendliness, professional and courteous staff.
Cons: Closure for the drapes ... ours did not quite meet in the middle, and we had to "adapt and improvise."
Location: Good location. We were visiting friends in the area, and therefore were unable to check out local activities.
Our stay at the Historian Inn was just for one night. We were warmly greeted by the innkeeper, and although he was a new employee, he was a professional in every sense of the word. Check-in was seamless, and he offered very useful advice on places to go for meals, acvities, etc. We brought our yellow lab on the trip, and therefore we were checked in to a room that was (probably) a pet-friendly room. There were some minor scratches on the upholstery and furniture, but nothing to indicate the room was substandard. There were no odors or stains on the carpet, and the room was clean and neat. The bed was a little soft for our tastes, but this is not a reflection on the establishment. Afterall, if you can't fall asleep on a bed, then you are probably quite particular with your specific mattress. We had no problems.

Fancier than your Average MotelPosted Aug 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Historian Inn is a great little motel in Gardnerville - with a handful of antique shops and casino across the street, it has some convenience with its location. It is also fairly central if you are looking to explore Carson Valley - which is what we did. The rooms were all freshly renovated and it had the look and feel of a really nice Days Inn. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful making the stay particularly pleasurable.

A nice surprise!Posted Aug 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
When I saw the hotel was one were you parked in front of your door I was a little worried to be honest. However, upon arrival and check-in all fears diminished. This place is an adorable gem tucked away in a cute business community of small shops and quaint diners. Room was well decorated, comfortable and very large. Staff was super friendly. The market has great items for purchase. Highly recommend and would stay again if given the opportunity!

Clean and pleasing roomsPosted Aug 5, 2013
Nice rooms and comfortable too. Would stay again if I was going to Carson City but not Tahoe because the 11.84 miles distance from the lake to the hotel takes 35 minutes to drive.

It was a charming little hotel that fit it's name Historian. It appeared that the rooms had been remodeled and were very clean. We had a late arrival and were exhausted when we arrived. However, the staff was friendly and certainly helpful in getting us settled. We'd definitely recommend this hotel.
