“If you Hafta go to a Casino but don't Really Do Casinos”
There is of course the main lobby that stretches back into the distance, blinking lights and inanely repetitious electronic perks and beeps from the slots. And the mercifully dark carpet reeks of tobacco courtesy of lungs of folks whose lives find joy watching the little fruits and vegetables spin. A mighty long bar overlooks Topaz Lake (which is beautiful). Nothing the matter with all that, if all that is your thing. If not, you'll gravitate towards the restaurant whose food is good and whose view is sensational. Breakfast coffee is bad.
The rooms are about average for Super 8 accommodations. All overlook the lake. There's a gas station and a general store (trinkets and beer); an RV area beyond that. Grounds are clean and, except for a slight litter problem - hard to keep up with fumbling fingers of inebriated folk whose cigarette box came up empty, whose paper napkin floated out of their pocket when they groped for their room key - a gracious enough place. Kids use the swings in the lawn under a canopy of trees.
The main thing to remember is this is not by any stretch a Gardnerville facility, nor is it a Carson City one. It's a good 35 miles farther south. Something about proximity of post office boxes. Heh, heh. Regardless, I'm sure it does pick up more customers by claiming those cities. Having said all that, we'd definitely return were we in the neighborhood. Rooms are reasonable, in pleasant surroundings, and...and everything else we saw fell far short in value.
