Great Hidden Gem with 1 imperfection...

Great stay at this hidden little gem. We had a king suite originally booked, but we had to scramble at check in due to the imperfection I alluded to. While the hotel is only 2 stories, there is NO ELEVATOR!! With a number of bags a stroller and 3 kids under 3, a trip up a flight of stairs was not going to happen. luckily we were able to get a 1st floor double. Worked fine. Parking was a little dark but free. Breakfast was a pretty decent hot lineup that included biscuits and gravy, sausage patties and scrambled (powedered) eggs. Plus your typical "american continental fare. All in all, a good stay overnight for a Reasonable price.

Only one person working when we arrived. She left the front counter several times to check a room for a customer. I did not like that they "had to" charge my credit card and would not put the money back until they checked my room. Said that as long as everything was OK with the room the money would be put back. Wish I had known that before I booked the room.

Pros: Liked everything.
Cons: Vending could be improved.
Location: Greet place to stay in Raleigh. 6 miles from Wake Tech Community College.
This room was very clean and the amenities were excellent. The breakfast the next morning was great and the staff were so friendly to us. Enjoyed our stay here.

I enjoyed the stay. Another group we knew stayed at old building, they said they had a few problems but seemed the staff tried to take care of it ASAP. New building was great!!!

Underrated!

This hotel was great! It doesn't have an elevator which is weird, and we found cobwebs on our lamp, but the front desk lady that was there at 1:00am made up for it. She tried helping us make hot cocoa, and was sweeter than pie! We loved it! Plenty of parking, and off the freeway, so it was quieter than a cemetery!

The outside looks outdated but the inside makes up for it. The staff was friendly and the rooms were quite comfortable and clean. I would stay here again.

No elevator?

Pros: Comfortable, clean.
Location: Not too far from dining and shopping.
Moderately clean and comfortable, the staff were polite and professional. Building has no elevator, which wasn't too much of a problem for me, but might be for some travelers. I thought it was a little a real nice hostel.

Pros: Pet friendly--well, except for "the policy." Low nightly fee ($10). Adjoining parcel is effectively a private park (although it's next to I-5 off ramp
Cons: First greeting, first response, first facial expression, first tone of voice, first attempt...
Disappointed! Except for one staffer, staff were dis. No ownership, no initiative, no service, no empathy, no grace--just a lot of "no." The behavior implied, it's-not-our-fault-you-have-a-problem-so-we-can't-be-bothered, and, we're-not-accountable-to-customers-or-to-the-idea-of-hospitality. The room ("deluxe", mind you): two walls dirty from prior guests' shoes (I washed the walls myself!); toilet ran; lights flickered; light fixture falling off the wall; air conditioner required coddling; faucet lacked pressure; comforters smelled. No liners in room trashcans (liability, per staff); I was told to go outside to dispose of food. I had to dismantle/fix the toilet myself. Staff refused entry bc of my dogs, citing hotel policy and liability (what an unusual, fear-of-dogs-convenient policy, I thought...). But, it's never the WHAT; it's always the HOW: I heard a silent "you're-bothering-me." A fix was promised the next day, Sun. On Mon, I learned they don't have maintenance on weekends! And, a WO for the toilet wasn't even created! There was more: staff were argumentative, disregarded me with both hostility and passivity, and squabbled over $5-$10/night. Circumstances led to a week's stay; no discount! They tried to convince me I was getting a deal as it is; their perspective stemmed from policy/procedure failure that they should address internally, not addressing with and passively blaming the customer...at my expense. Overall: lack of hospitality, help, and humanity.
