"Better than Cabins "
The hotel was built on the top of the mountain such that every room has great view. It has microwave oven on every floor and a mini water park on its first floor such that it is very family friendly.

"Not really a hotel."
This is primarily a resort complex, not a hotel. Thus, there is no elevator for the three story walkup, no ice, no free breakfast. Most of the amenities, there is lots to do, cost extra. Our room included pots, pans, glasses, dishes, flatware, a cooktop, a small refrigerator, and dishwasher. (The freezer needed to be defrosted before anything would fit.) However, there was no towels or ice; which arrived later. The room architect apparently have never seen a well designed hotel room, much less been in one. There is only one window, which is fairly removed from the living space. The interior designer was clueless as to the room's usable arrangement. As a result, all the furniture was shoved against one wall, the bed only accessible from one side, and nearly all of the electric receptacles obscured by furniture. If you cell phone falls down the wrong side of the bed, good luck retrieving it; you are wondering how I know this ;-). The room received a first-class renovation several years ago, with granite counter tops, slate-look floor tile, and bathroom wallpaper! However, since then, the daily steaming of the wallpaper allows it to peel. The plain, white shower tile grout is pretty moldy, there is no place to hang a wash cloth or towel in shower and only one towel bar in the bath. There was a large container of bed linens outside of our room that remained there for the duration of our stay. This place may work for a week of skiing. However, it is pricy as a hotel room.

"Great motel in heart of Gatlinburg"
I had one problem with the fridge not cooling properly, but it was most likely due to my user error. Overall great service.

"A good value...but dated"
Staff are friendly and accommodating. Walking distance to Galtinburg attractions and right next to a trolley stop. At 110 bucks the price is right about on par with similar hotels. For those that haven't been to Gatlinburg, the overwhelming majority of the hotels in walking distance are 1970's era. There has been very little "new" hotel construction in the past 30 years. Most (like the Glenstone Lodge) are well kept up, but they lack the amenities such as a bar/lounge. They serve a breakfast menu on weekdays, and a buffet breakfast on weekends (no lunch or dinner). Their pool area is the centerpiece of the hotel and very busy. Realizing that the purpose of a hotel pool is drain the batteries of excited children, this pool is no exception. No peaceful soak in the hot tub or adults only times...much more of a waterpark type of energy. An unfortunate effect of such a large indoor pool complex is the persistent chlorine smell permeating the hotel hallways. Not as bad in the room, but still present if the AC is off. If you are bothered by this type of small, request an exterior balcony (vice pool balcony) room. The rooms were so-so. Very dated, and although wi-fi is "available", good luck getting on reliably. I'm not talking streaming/Netflix, just basic email and web surfing are slow and prone to frequent dropouts. Bottom line, its about what you'd expect for the price point and there aren't many better options within an easy walk to the strip.

"Million Dollar Mountain View!"
I have been to Gatlinburg to many times to count. I have stayed at much nicer places, but none with the views of the mountains like the Summit. The view was amazing to say the least! From the living room we overlooked downtown Gatlinburg. We stayed in a 3 bedroom unit. (Building 6) Now if we are talking about the actual unit it was just ok. The beds weren't the most comfortable and the kitchenette was too small to cook in it. So we ate out for all our meals. It had some mold in the shower and the trim in both bathrooms need much help. Carpet looked newer. It had a s.s. dishwasher but older stove and refrigerator. Overall not in perfect condition, but decent usable condition. After all we only were there to sleep and take showers so no big deal. But again, the view from the living room was a million dollar view!
