Like Camping Indoors

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: The view, the brook, the pool, the fireplace.
Cons: The maid service. Would like to see this lovely older property bought by a chain that would assure minimum cleanliness and amenities.
Location: We liked that it wasn't in the middle of either downtown Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. They were pretty close but not really within walking distance.
We enjoyed our stay, but it wasn't the cleanest. I am not a clean freak, so a lot of it didn't bother me. If I had toddlers or kids that played on the floor a lot, I would not recommend this hotel. We did enjoy the balcony overlooking the stream. The sound of the stream was marvelous. It was cool at night a few nights and we lit a fire in the fireplace. The pool was nice. The breakfast was boring but the attendant was very pleasant and the room was spotless. There was a nice little kitchen area with a sink, microwave and little refrigerator in the room. We were going to put a few things in the drawer - but they were dirty enough that I wouldn't put food in them. The carpet was old and needed a good scrubbing. It was at least vacuumed when we checked in, but was never vacuumed again in the 4 days we were there. We got some shampoo and soap the first day. No conditioner - nothing after the first day. We had to go out and buy it right off. It was like camping indoors.

Pros: We loved our balcony which overlooked the stream.
Cons: Training at the front desk.
It was a little confusing at check in, but after that we were very pleased with our room.

Good staff

Overall, good experience but room are outdated and needs major renovation. Continental breakfast should be replaced with hot breakfast especially @ $159/night. Staff was super nice and polite.

Brookside Resort

The hotel was good for what we needed but slightly overpriced for the condition. The creek beside the hotel was beautiful though and the location was walking distance from downtown (highly recommended due to the cost to park).
