Good location, show age and wear
Posted Jan 12, 2013
Pros: Location
Cons: Old and showing wear.
Location: Right in the heart of things in Gatlinburg. In the valley near mountain stream and lots of tourist shopping.
I don't stay in 1 or 5 star hotels (dumps or outrageously expensive). I seek moderately priced 4-star and typically use Hamptons as a benchmark. This hotel is below my 4-star standard mostly because it is old and shows a lot of wear and tear. The location is good - within walking distance of downtown Gatlin shopping and restaurants. It is very near the ski lift and viewing tower. Since parking is a problem in this area, it is good to have a location close enough to walk. It is also on a bus route if you want to circle the area that way. The room was a typical hotel room and was clean but was well worn. We purchased their buffet breakfast for about $9 and it was a good meal with all you could eat. The road in front of their place takes you directly into a very nice park drive and hiking options. The front desk people were nice and the pool was unusual with a waterfalls/fountain-type thing that made it better than the typical plain pool.

Nice room; good price.

Pros: The pool
Cons: The pillows were a little hard.
Location: Great. Convenient to everything
Nice (but not super-fancy) rooms with useful amenities for a very reasonable price. We like that it is walking distance to everything in Gatlinburg and is easy access to National Park. Good parking. We also enjoyed the pool area. Highly recommended.

Good Value

Pros: Breakfast dining. Good buffet for about $8. I expect it is more during the tourist season.
Cons: Indoor pool water looked cloudy.
Location: Close to downtown and Park enterance. Quiter side strreet.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was very good. The breakfast at the hotel was also very good and priced well compared to a nearby pancake restaurant. The indoor pool water looked cloudy during our 3 day stay so we didn't use it. located about a 1/2 mile walk to downtown and there is a shuttle stop just outside. We stayed the third week in May so tourism was down. One night there was a couple with small children in the adjoining room.We could hear them talking so the sound insulation is a little weak. We didn't consider it a problem. Overall, it's a decent place to stay.

One glorious stay!

Pros: The atmosphere and the room were just superb.
Cons: nothing
Location: Location was minutes from the Gatlinburg Convention Center, food, shopping all within ease walk or take the fun trolley anywhere all day for $2!
This was a wonderful vacation experience! The Glenstone was more than we could have imagined. From the courteous staff checking in, everything and everyone was excellent. Our room was immaculate and if you lucky enough to be poolside, you have a spectacular inside pool with a built in waterfall. There is even a small little putt-putt place for kiddies. The breakfast price and the food were the best ever...again staff the best. We would definitely return and plan to!!

not what I expected
Posted Jan 11, 2013
Pros: the waitress at the breakfast buffet was absolutely wonderful
Cons: bathroom conditions upon arrival / receptionist
After arriving at the hotel well after midnight and a 24 hrs on the road (incl. a couple of stops) all I wanted was a clean hotel room, a shower and some sleep. There was lace (dirt/spider?) on the outside of the curtains, the inside of the window was dity and the bathtub full of water spots and some hair. We where told it would be cleaned after 10am. I booked a 2 queen bed room with balcony and mountain view and got a king br with rooftop view. The only reason we stayed was because our kids had a room there, too. Our compensation was a free breakfast. the photos where send to you already.

Better with kids
Posted Jan 7, 2013
Pros: Cleanliness and location.
Cons: Noise from the pool and shower curtain.
Location: Good location for getting in and out to go places or just walk to the main street.
We had a room right behind the waterfall of the indoor pool. Big mistake for just 2 adults. Very noisey until 11 pm. Hard to hear inside the room. Beds were hard, pillows were nice. Shower curtain was not a liner and no weights in it so kept blowing into the shower. Lots of kids so a good family hotel. Pool was somewhat lacking, hot tub was hard to get in and out, but kids seem to love the pool and the design of it. The location was very good. Big tourist area, be prepared to walk a lot or ride the trolley. Heavy traffic on the main street. Overall I would stay there again, just get a different room area.

Family Pleaser!
Posted Jan 5, 2013
Pros: Pools
Cons: Slow elevator
Location: Just up the road from EVERYTHING! Beautiful flowing creek right out back
I went for this lodge knowing that my 10 year old would love the pools. They became a great life-saver when my husband ended up sick for much of our trip. The rooms are basic but clean. The soda and ice machines didn't work on the 4th floor.

Disappointed
Posted Jan 4, 2013
Location: The location was excellent, just far enough off of the Main Street that you could walk to many attractions
Well, I booked for a balcony, which I thought would be a little private porch off from the room, but that is not what we got. So was somewhat disappointed in that regard.
