“Nice Cabin, Good Experience”

This was a great experience overall. We had paid for a king bed with Expedia, and staff at Hickory Mist had assigned us to a cabin with only queen beds. Once this was pointed out at check-in, they gave us the cabin we requested. If you book through Expedia, and all of the cabins are reserved, you may not get exactly what you bargained for when you check in. The cabin (Naughty Pines) was beautiful, and everything was in good working order. We did need service for the gas fireplace (high winds had disabled the pilot light), and maintenance was prompt to correct this. The roads leading to the cabin were narrow and winding and may present a challenge for some. I would definitely rent a cabin from this company again. Everything was well maintained, and the cabin was tastefully decorated for the holidays. We would like to know where the sectional leather couch was purchased.

“Great place to stay!”

Beautiful and restful location! Only complaint was the limited number of towels. With a hot tub, 3 towels for 2 people are not enough.

“Victoria's View Review”

The cabin we stayed in was called "Victoria's View". It was conveniently located about 10 minutes from Dollywood. It was well appointed with everything you could possibly need. Although the description was 2 bedroom, 3 bath, it had what I would call a third bedroom on the lower level with a futon in it (although it was broken and wouldn't fold flat). The view was awesome. The road to the cabin was a bit hairy since it was only wide enough for one car to pass and it was a windy road, but upon arrival it was really nice. I have just a few complaints about that particular cabin - the A/C didn't travel up to the third floor very well so the bedrooms were really hot. There is a fan in both bedrooms but it doesn't help much when the temperature is over 90 degrees. The other complaint I have was that the third level where the bedrooms were smelled like sewer. It got worse as the week went by and by the last day it was unbearable. Maybe they have a septic system and it just needs to be emptied or something. Other than that, I would recommend the cabin and location to anyone. Just a side note, when you book through a third party (like Expedia) Hickory Mist doesn't get your reservation from them until the day before you arrive, so there is no way of knowing what cabin you are staying in until you get there. They guarantee a cabin of equal or greater value but they can't guarantee a specific cabin since it is subject to availability.

“not impressed:-(”

upon check in, they give you directions how to get to your cabin. We checked in late night, so we had trouble finding the cabin, especially I'm not experienced in driving on narrow, mountain roads. There was no washer or dryer. The shower water was barely warm(in fact the guest book has numerous complaints about it)The hot tub did not warm up untill the next morning. There are heater vents right on the ceilings in the bedrooms, so they blow right on your head-had to turn off the heat, or cover our heads with blankets! No pet policy? Are you sure? Previous "guests" sure had their animals with them on their stay(in the guest book)The cabin was in no near walking distance to anything. We had to drive to everything(and pay for parking), it's approx. 7 miles from Gatlinburg. We did not complain about any of the above, but should have. We only stayed there for 3 nights. On the other hand, the front desk staff were nice-they even printed out info about Ober Gatlinburg for us!

“Real Bummer.”

Not at all like the online photos posted online. Stayed in the "Two Hearts". No washer or dryer. No gas grill. The cabin was not private, which was our sole reason for renting it. You could hardly walk between the cabins. One parking place only. No refund or move to another cabin when brought this to the management's attention. Just "Too Bad"...

“Not Impressed”

Cabin was located a good 25 minutes out of Gatlinburg and 20 -25 out of Pigeon Forge. The beds were hard as rocks, the water smelled of sulfur and the water pressure was so poor that it was hard to shower. The scenic view, was dirt and trees. Would never recommend this cabin for the money.

“Lots of Potential, but Needs Work”

Checked in, staff was nice, and the the main office/"hotel lobby" was good. However, it is about 2 miles down the road from the rest of the property. Cabin in the woods, in a good location. Property was nice, and at first glace, the cabin looks good. All wood paneling, a pool table, and a hot tub on the "deck." All sounds great. However, several, several improvements and maintainence issues were noted with our stay. "Major" faults: The hot tub was nice, but the "deck" really just amounts to a fenced-in walkway, about 4 ft x 15 ft, with the hottub taking up 1/3 of that space. Sitting in the hottub, all you can see is the fence surrounding you. It would have been awesome if they had lowered the fence by 2-3 feet at least somewhere, so you could actually see the woods that you came to see. The shower leaked onto the staircase below. The bathroom sink did not drain at all. There was no DVD player ( a VHS player instead). One set of miniblinds was broken. The gas grill didn't work (burners were rusted out and igniter didn't work). Minor faults: Only 4 towels for 2 people staying 3 days - we had to drive down to the office for more towels (no housekeeping), No dishwasher or drying rack. Fairly small (5-7 gallon) main trashcan for the house/kitchen (you can't leave any trash outside due to attracting bears, and there is no housekeeping...) 1 small parking space. only 1 dishtowel. No drawers in bedroom at all - only a closet with 1 rod.
