Historical hotel with balconies over the water

Pros: Location, Balconies over the water, historical
Location: Right in the heart of Gatlinburg adjacent to the Aquarium.
It was a wonderful stay right in the middle of Gatlinburg. The balconies over the water make it an ideal spot to enjoy everything Gatlinburg has to offer as well as relaxation.

Location: aquarium , other Ripley places
was upgraded to jaccuzi but it did not work , drafts sports bar staff was slow credit card machine did not work gave cash , waiter had to go to hotel for change

Overall clean room and staff was wonderful. Our room had a gorgeous view of mountains. Everything was in walkable range.

Duck Watch building with a river view August 2014

Pros: It was by the river
Cons: YES! Put more lights in the room! Clean out the tub and get a new toilet!
Location: In the heart of Gatlinburg. Near everything.
It was neat to be by the river. That was nice. However, the room we had was very dark. You really need more lighting in there. The tub needed a major cleaning and cleaning out of trapped hair. The tub would fill up right away when showering. The toilet chain in the tank came off 2 or 3 times and had to be put back on so we could flush the toilet.. Bless my husbands heart for the handy man he is and did it himself. The room was very big and the beds were comfortable.

Terrible facility

I arrived late at night. They had the reservation but not the payment I submitted via Expedia. The facility is badly in need of maintenance and has some really bad patchwork done to the rooms. Furniture does not fit the room. Tub is peeling. Bathroom cabinet has been patched with plywood and left unfinished. Noisy air conditioner, noisy refrigerator, old CRT TV. Mildew smell. Looks like the cleaning staff is doing their job but the facility is defeating them. I spoke with the front desk and was told that all the rooms are 'dated'. That was the theme, where the staff knows what is wrong but really cannot do anything about it. I checked out early after staying the first night. At least they did not charge a penalty.

Good location

We enjoyed our stay for the most part, the hotel is in a convenient location. Our building & room seemed much older compared to the other rooms & buildings which appeared to be new and/or renovated. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again in one of the newer rooms.

Right next to aquarium

Pros: The room was very clean and the staff were friendly.
Cons: To get to an ice machine we would have had to go to a different building which means walking even further uphill or walking downhill and back up.
Location: Everything was walking distance. The aquarium was right next door and the mall was right across the street.
Very nice stay. Everyone was friendly. The walk uphill after walking all around gatlinburg was rough but the room was very clean! I would stay there again.

Gaitlinburg, TN downtown Hotel

Pros: Enjoyed our room with a fireplace, balcony over looking the River and facing towards downtown.
Cons: Front desk folks be nicer, they should take your cell, calling when room ready. Make more effort to take care of folks who traveled along ways.
Location: We ere very close to the Aquarium, they have nice Trolleys to ride and we could walk all over the streets.
Sad to say, front desk people were very rude and unaccommodating. I didn't feel well, asked for room at 1 pm, they said room wasn't clean, then they lost my reservation, then they said to come back after 4 pm. At 2 pm I watched them check-in over 30 folks.This is a big conference center, lots of rooms there. I spoke to Manager, we finally got into our room at 3 pm.

In regards to check-in hours, all our resorts happen at 4 pm, considering we are a timeshare property and need a certain period of time to get the units ready and make our guests feel at home. Location is EXCELLENT but hotel is awful.

Pros: The location is perfect. The view was EXCELLENT!
Hotel looks great from outside and location is absolutely perfect on the river with a view of the mountains. Walk to everywhere. BUT, inside the smell was unpleasant, NOT clean. Cobwebs, dust. Maids left dirty towels when they left clean ones, did not change sheets, did not replenish coffee and cups daily. Bathrooms need to be gutted and redone. TV's are very dated...from the 90's. Beds extremely hard..a nice gel/foam mattress would help. Curtains and carpets were nice. The prices are low...they should be. I would NOT stay here again.
