NASTY floors, bad lighting, poor service

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: 24 hour pool.
Cons: The carpet needs replaced, not cleaned. Friendler service at front desk, other than the gentlemen on night shift. Working fridge and better lighting.
Location: The Island, The Track, bunch of $10 shops, food places, Jurassic Park boat ride
We preferably wanted a hotel that had a pool that was open 24 hours and The Shular had that and an alright price for what seemed to be a nice hotel. When we made it to the hotel my boyfriend went to check in and the manager at the front desk was quite nosy and not very friendly. He handed her his ID and she asked if there was anyone 21 in the party. We look pretty young for our age but his ID stated he was 21. He told her he was 21, she checked the ID again and then stated all they had was a smoking one queen bed room, when we booked smoking two queen bed room, and said that we only booked for one person (which must have been expedias mistake). She then asked if he smoked and asked where he worked for some reason, leaving us feeling very unwelcomed. When we found our room we found the fridge and microwave were not working. We went down to the front desk and the manager said someone would be down to fix it, waited forever and still nobody came so we pushed the reset button and they came on, however only the freezer part worked. Later that night we noticed that the floor felt sticky, checked our feet and they were BLACK. I took a shower and cleaned my feet, and had my boyfriend carry me to the bed since he had socks. Carpet needs replaced, it's very nasty. Room is also very dim, hurts your eyes and they gave us a connecting room and they kept trying to open the door and were loud. Will not ever return, and would not recommened this hotel to anyone. Way overpriced

Awesome outdoor pool and beautiful, clean rooms.

Loved the grounds, had a resort-like feel due to the pools and landscaping. Indoor pool was nice, too. Rooms were perfect, bedding was comfy, and breakfast was plentiful.

Nice Little Hotel

Posted Jun 25, 2015
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff; price was great; great location
Cons: Thicker pillows would be nice
Location: The Island is within walking distance. There are lots of shops all around the hotel.
This is an older hotel, but it has been well maintained. My husband, son, and I stayed for two nights and really enjoyed it. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We had a chance to use both the indoor and outdoor pools and they were very clean and had plenty of seating around them. The outdoor hot tub was great! The continental breakfast was very tasty and the breakfast staff kept everything stocked. The front desk clerks were very friendly and helpful & check-in/check-out was quick and hassle free.

Nice for price.

Pros: Close location to Dollywood.
Cons: I coughed quite a bit the first night probably due to the strong deodorizer smell. Not sure if it was covering up a moldy scent or not.
Location: Dollywood and main drag strip was very commercialized.
Overall, room, staff and amenities were good. The room did have an extreme strong deodorizer smell when you walked in. We had to keep the door open to let some fresh air in. Other than that it was very nice and clean.
