Not impressed
Posted Jan 14, 2013
Pros: Very friendly desk staff. Lots of local attraction information/discount coupons.
Cons: Rooms could definitely use some TLC!!
Checked in and found out that "courtside" rooms are actually across the street from the "creekside" building which houses the only indoor pool. Rooms could use updating, and more outlets that actually work. The room phone didn't even work the first night, even to call the desk! The delivery restaurant that is advertised in the rooms finally picked up the phone after several attempts and 20 rings each, only to inform me that they were NOT delivering that night. (I had to call them from my cell phone). Also, the shower did not hold a temperature. HOT/COLD, HOT/COLD, not pleasant.

Nice hotel
Posted Jan 12, 2013
Pros: View of the mountains and location.
When booking this hotel, I requested a poolside room, but instead when we arrived, we were given a room from which we had to cross the road to get to the main pool. This was disappointing. Overall, the stay was fine.

great hotel for people with kids
Posted Jan 8, 2013
Pros: I loved that there was a cafe located inside the hotel. It was cheaper than taking the family to IHOP.
Cons: How housekeepers turned air off after cleaning room.
Location: Excellant
Sheets were changed daily. Was given new shampoo, towels, coffee and soaps and shampoos daily as well. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Will definitely stay here again.

Creekside Room Was a Real Treat! I Do Recommend!
Posted Jan 5, 2013
Pros: The view of the stream and sound of the rushing water.
Cons: No microwave; wish balcony had been larger.
Location: The hotel was away from the heavy traffic but close to everything, so you could walk. Trolly came right to the hotel if you didn't want to walk.
I gave "Comfort of the room" only 3 stars because the bed tried tipi kill me...no, my back was killing me because OF the bed, but my husband didn't have a complaint about it, so it's just personal preference. The view from the Creekside room was 10 stars! You open your balcony door and this view of trees and birds and a rushing stream right under your feet was so cathartic! We actually kept the door open all night and fell asleep to that sound! I took a sound machine and never turned it on. Although the balcony had no chairs (it was a little little) I put a chair out there and SO enjoyed sitting there, taking in the beauty and peacefulness of everything. We will definitely stay at Sidney James again.

Pros: Close to downtown Gatlinburg. And there was a bear walking around at night.
Cons: The beds hurt your back!
Location: .05 miles from downtown Gatlinburg.
There was a roach in the shower. The beds hurt your back. The other people in the room next to us was loud! The shower when from hot to cold the entire time you took a shower.

Gatlinburg Weekend
Posted Jan 3, 2013
Pros: Loved that picnic table right by the river.
Cons: No complimentary breakfast.
Location: Close to everything in Gatlinburg. We parked our car for four days and walked everywhere.
The location was great in relation to the Gatlinburg Convention Centre and trolley service. We were able to park our car and walk to everything! We only used this hotel for sleeping purposes so all in all, it was adequate - clean, safe and quiet.

Ok for $50 night, but dont expect anything special
Posted Jan 29, 2013
Pros: Cheap
Cons: beds from the 1940's
Location: it is a bit of a walk from downtown. I chose to drive instead.
I only paid $50 a night so i cannot complain. (you get what you pay for) I was a little disappointed that the indoor pool was closed, but again they have to do maintenance at some point, i was just the unlucky one. I cant say i was disappointed, as i expected the worst for the price. I would definitely not pay more than $50/night at this hotel. If you just looking for a cheap place to rest your head after hitting some trails, then this is your hotel.......unless there happens to be something nicer for the same price. FYI, Beds are not comfortable either. I think they replaced the mattress with stones from the mountain

Great Hotel for a getaway
Posted Jan 28, 2013
Pros: It was quite and the room was always clean
Cons: the indoor pool was not open
Location: The location was great only problem was the walk and if you wanted to ride the trolley was the wait for the trolley and knowing which one to take.
Our room was upgraded to a king on creekside. It was a pleasant room with lots of room. It was also very quite.
