Nice hotel

Posted Oct 10, 2014
The King size bed was very comfortable. The jacuzzi tub was nice to relax in after a day of walking. Television was ok, but could be updated. Overall, good hotel at the end of the strip.

Front desk clerk was very rude about using expedia

Posted Oct 5, 2014
Room very clean, loved the fireplace, but room was not on river and we were led to believe it was. The front desk clerk was very rude when I talked to him about room and said I shouldn't have booked with expedia. I explained I had tried to call hotel many times for two days and he said they were too busy to answer the phone. Won't go back or recommend.

Great stay, will stay here again, and again.

The hotel was great. We stayed on the top floor, and the the view from our balcony was amazing. The stuff was super helpful, and the room was very clean. The bathroom was huge with heated floors. The whole family loved the indoor pool with the walk over bridge, and the free milk and cookies was a hit with my two kids. Loved it and will stay there again for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quirky hotel

Posted Sep 29, 2014
Pros: Good location
Cons: Facilities need updated
Location: Plenty of touristy things to do nearby
A good location, with quirky extras like wine and cheese, cookies and milk. But it needs updated and brought into 21st century

Beautiful in the trees

Posted Sep 26, 2014
Pros: The room was beautiful. The location was among the trees and peaceful.
Cons: The breakfast! It was not worth walking across the road, with exception of great coffee.
Location: Not much to do nearby. One needs to be a walker, hiker, etc. since this is a long way away from the center of Gatlinburg. One needs to drive.
Being handicapped, the accommodations were more than adequate. Beautiful room. We were looking for a place to stay close to Trolley. Since our room was at top of mountain, and Trolley stop was at the bottom, this didn't work for us since we could walk down, but not back up. (Our car was at the top.) We needed a ground level room, close to reception desk, and didn't get it. It is much prettier at the top, however. The complimentary breakfast was very poor. Biscuits 'n gravy just wasn't good. No choices. Basic cold cereal, coffee, juice. Wonderful picnic area beside stream with grill accommodations. Would be great get away for ones wanting to drive to restaurants and still sleep among the trees.

So private and on the river

Posted Sep 2, 2014
It was our first time staying and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Loved the location, the pools, friendly staff, the cleanliness of the motel. It was like you were in your own little world up in the woods and on the river! We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony listening to the river. We would definitely stay again!

Nice older place

The hotel is a little dated. There were some minor maintenance issues. Staff was friendly and the room clean. The view out over the creek was great.

RUDE STAFF - BAD STAY

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: the pool, the creek
Cons: everyone that works there should be fired
Location: close to town
The hotel staff started out pretty nice until we called to ask the night desk guy a question and he smarted off at us, and told me the wrong answer just be be rude. Then the housekeeping people walked right in on me while i was changing - 2 days in a row!!! final day we were running a little late and they threatened us to charge my card for another day. wine and cracker time was ok, but the lady working the counter was staring at us, like they wanted us to leave. just felt like everyone that worked there was in a bad mood constantly. If they dont like thier job they should just quit, and not be so helpful in making our vacation feel weird.

One night remembering former visits

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: Ambiance, location, good staff.
Cons: If you're interested in more quiet, ask for a room farther from the road. I doubt we can get motorcyclists to get a better muffler on their "hogs."
Location: The motel is at the north-east end of Gatlinburg. You can walk the main street and check-out all its attractions. The park entrance is minutes away.
This was planned as a return to a motel that we stayed at many times when we were raising our two sons. It was very nice then with very good rooms with a balcony over a gurgling stream. The pool was very good and the location was great. Our boys are now in their 50s and might like the newer indoor pool but they would miss the old outside diving board that they enjoyed so much. The rooms still have the gurgling stream and the location hasn't changed but the owners have piled a lot into investments to offer many good room combinations. This time, however, our room was a little too close to the main road passing the motel and the number of noisy motorcyclists wasn't good. They have added a morning breakfast and late afternoon wine and cheese session that gave more value for the dollar. The staff was very gracious and friendly. It was good to get back for a visit and to rekindle old memories of great vacations in the past.
