When it comes to getting the best bang for your buck from your travels, it's worth keeping in mind that Gavaudun is merely the tip of the iceberg; Aquitaine is home to a treasure-trove of natural sights, cities and towns. Leave enough time to visit Monflanquin, 6 miles (10 kilometers) from Gavaudun. In Monflanquin, you can check out the Place des Arcades and Musee des Bastides. If you feel like seeing more of this region, travel to Villeneuve-sur-Lot to visit the Place Lafayette and Church of Ste-Catherine. Villeneuve-sur-Lot is 14 miles (23 kilometers) away.
Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil, is another good place to visit. It is approximately 25 miles (40 kilometers) from Gavaudun and offers a number of interesting visitor attractions, including Musee National de Prehistoire, Grotte de Font-de-Gaume and Grotte des Combarelles. Make sure you don't rush back to Gavaudun until you've investigated Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil's Grotte du Grand Roc, Chateau de Commarque and Chateau de Laussel.
