“Great Lobby, Good Service but don't stay in the Annex buiding”

I was upgraded to a room in the Annex building with a view of the Lake. The room had a great view of the lake and it was large, yet the bathroom was tiny, and both the room as well as the bathroom were outdated in appearance.

“Hotel de la Paix”

Very nice old-style hotel right on Lake Laman. Our room was a large corner room with balconies on both sides and a great view of the lake. Very friendly and helpful staff. The only downside is that the breakfast is grossly over-priced for what is available. Choice is limited to the most basic of basics - two juices, two cereals, two kinds of buns (even though this is the French part of Switzerland the croissants were edible and that is it), scrambled eggs, bacon, some fruit, 3 cheeses (not bad) cold cuts. Coffee or tea. This is a 5 CHF breakfast maximum, not a 40 CHF breakfast. Eat breakfast at one of the many cafes within a 5 minute walk.

de la paix is the third hotel i have tried on the lake's strip, after wilson and mandarin. apparently the cheapest. don't have many comments apart from staff at breakfast time being constantly on the phone. now, not sure if it was an internal radio or cell but still annoying. a good thing is free wifi, not every where is like this.

“In nee of Renovation”

The architecture and bones are beautiful, and the location perfect. The rooms are old and musty though. The hotel says will renovate June 05, so I look forward to trying, but not til after renovations.

“Not really 5 star”

Certainly not as 5 star as other hotels I have stayed in. Room was very nice, although a bit small. Bathroom was average. I expect better quality fit out and a shower that stays the same temperature!

“Not 5 Star Service but 5 Star Prices”

The option was available to book a room with a queen sized bed. We checked into our room and it was two singles pushed together, with single sheets and single duvets. We mentioned this to the front desk immediately and were moved to another room, with exactly the same type of beds.I was informed that there were no other rooms but the next day our room would be serviced and the bed made up properly as a double. We left the hotel at 11.40 and returned at 15.30. The room had not been serviced at all! We mentioned this before we left for dinner and the bed was made up with a double sheet and single duvets. Breakfast service was awful. 20 minute wait for tea and coffee. None of the food stuffs at the buffet were stocked (so you asked and waited). We were even shown to a table to return from the counter to find it cleared of settings!! Terrible, book elsewhere and be treated well instead.

“Great Location”

Can beat the location, old world feeling, sense of place. Recently updated, vey good overall. Views!!
