Introduction to Geneva

Posted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: Mostly the closeness to the railway station and the friendly staff.
Cons: Greater attention to servicing the room.
Location: Nice lunch at the nearby Veranda Restaurant. Excellent Italian and Lebanese restaurants close to the hotel.
Each day something was not replaced or supplied in the bathroom. One of the coffee mugs leaked and was found to be cracked

Great hotel close to train station w/travel perks

Posted Jul 21, 2014
When we arrived in Geneva we were exhausted--we had tons of work-related luggage and had traveled a few hours from Zermatt. So you can imagine the relief of getting off right out of the train station and seeing the hotel across the street. The reception and hotel staff were fantastic. They also gave us free bus passes to get around Geneva, and train passes to get to the airport later. It wasn't a far walk to get to the lake either. The bathroom and room were bit crammed, but I'd expect nothing less for Europe. You could hear some noise out on the street (we were on the 5th floor) but nothing that prevented me from sleeping. We had the twin bed room, which consists of two beds pushed together. We found that this was the case in most places in Europe (which, btw--if you're traveling with someone you want to be completely platonic with, it will be sooo awkward!), but here it was the least awkward; the beds could be pushed way from each other because they were on rollers. The design of the rooms was a bit outdated too, but personally for me as long as its comfortable I don't care what things look like.

Geneva

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Outside of the hotel.
Pleasant, but I was charged for 4 breakfasts and should only have been charged for 2. Error by the reception staff which I only noticed the next day.

Great Location, Free transportation passes

Posted Jul 4, 2014
Pros: Great location. Friendly, helpful staff.
Location: The central city hotels provide a free transport pass within the particular zone that encompasses most of the highlights that are not to be missed.
We chose this hotel because we were arriving by train needed to be within walking distance while toting baggage. Hotel facility itself seemed pretentious trying to market itself to be super upscale. Super modernistic decor and a highly expensive empty restaurant and bar. I was astounded to see the hotel charges posted on our room door of 775 Swiss Francs. We paid less than half of that. I can't imagine that anyone paying the full price. People with real money would go elsewhere. However, the desk staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Excellent central location for public transportation that takes you to all the highlights of the city. Beware that for rooms facing the main "drag" like ours it gets very noisy, boisterous with traffic and generally raucous around 1AM. The party is just starting and us Americans are trying to sleep.

Not a four star

Posted Jun 19, 2014
The hotel is very convenient. It is not a four star. This is why I gave it lower marks. If it was described as a three I would have rated it higher. When you book ask for the back rooms. Very quiet. If you are at the front you may as well sleep on the road due to noise levels. Comfortable rooms if a three star. Shabby since it is a four star. I would tell a friend only since it is convenient.

Nice Hotel in perfect location

Posted May 6, 2014
Pros: location friendly staff free travel pass
Cons: breakfast option when booking hotel at discounted price
Location: Extremely convenient when traveling to and from airport main train and bus/tram station right opposite hotel lake Geneva cafes/restaurants
stayed 4 nights with the family. friendly and helpful staff, nice clean room. Located in city centre, close to train station, only 6 minutes away from airport. Hotel provides free pass for using bus, trams and train within Geneva - extremely useful as Geneva is super expensive Lake Geneva within 10 minutes walk would have liked to have breakfast as an option when booking through expedia as it's very costly to pay separately, more than £20pp/day so we decided not to go with this and instead bought stuff for breakfast from local supermarket which obviously wasn't as enjoyable as hotel breakfast. Otherwise it ticks all boxes

Not p to 4* standard

Posted May 4, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: New mattresses, better linen, air conditioning
Location: Very close to central station, so convenient to go anywhere. Enjoyed Patek Phillipe museum
Great location and position. Bed not really comfortable at all. Air conditioning in room only merely adequate - and this was when outside temperature was not warm!
