A bargain, November stay at The Soana.Posted Nov 15, 2013
Pros: The price, location and comfort.
Cons: The shower could be bigger but I am a big guy. Tea & a croissant wasn't that filling. Adding a piece of focaccia would have made a better breakfast.
Location: Very central. Lots of bars, shops, restaurants and sights within a few minutes walk. Very close for buses and trains. Excellent location.
We were given a balcony room at The Soana, number 13. Although the balcony had a locked gate on it it was still a lovely little room. Although it was small you had enough room to get around. The only issue we had was that the radiator was on and couldn't be switched off. It was November after all and to Italians it was cold. We however were baking hot. A minor quibble given that the room was spotlessly clean, the beds were very comfortable and the staff were very pleasant, polite and accommodating. People forget that this is a budget hotel in the middle of a busy city centre. Noise was expected but not too bad. The continental breakfast seemed a little sparse but it still did the job, just! I would use the hotel again. Thanks to the owners, the lovely Sonia and the rest of the staff of the hotel for making us so welcome and comfortable.

Served our needsPosted Sep 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
It wasn't posh or fancy, but served our needs well. Quick walk to the train station or to some fantastic dining. It was quiet, clean and safe; I'd stay here again.

A comfortable base for exploring Genoa old town and port, not too far to walk from Brignole station. Nice quite room and the buiding has a lovely old wood panelled lift in the stairwell.

Easy stayPosted Jul 31, 2013
Pros: Location & close to train station
Cons: Hard beds
Location: Easy location to find, just a little walk from restaurants however nice walk seeing some sights...
Easy location from the train station & right in the CBD. We were only on a quick overnight stop over so it was convenient. Beds were hard, although not phased by this it may not interest some people. Staff were very friendly & it was quiet. Although in the morning about 8 there was a fair bit of thoroughfare noise as we were close to reception & they serve breakfast around 7-830. Most restaurants are a little walk away as this hotel is in the business area however the price of the hotel was great & it served its purpose.

Great LocationPosted Jun 20, 2013
The room was really nice and large and had everything I needed. It was a great location to the train station and also a short walk to to City Centre, and then a longer walk to the old city and some amazing palaces.

NOT FIT FOR SLEEPINGPosted May 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
IMO this 4th storey hotel is just in the wrong place for being able to get a nights sleep, (even with ear plugs) as it's adjacent to both a main throughfare's set of traffic lights and an elevated highway, so the trafic noise is intrusive and continuous. Room 15 is a definite no no, as it on the corner of the hotel with a set of french windows on each elevation. The management are aware of the problem but offer no reduction, but do provide a generous continental breakfast for 3 euros, which includes a large pot of well needed morning coffee.

SatisfactoryPosted May 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
Pleasant stay, no pretentions, nothing fancy but adequate accommodation in a good location in the centre of genoa. Various members of staff were friendly and helpful. Only annoying thing for us was the wifi didn't work in our room.

Welcoming + CleanPosted Apr 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great place to stay, very clean rooms, friendly staff. Room had great view along Via Settembre (sp) and high cielings with frescoes on them. Good location halfway between Brignole station to the east and old town to the west. Also very near the excellent Mercato Orientale and lots of good food shops / bakeries / cafes around Via Galata / Colombo
