“An Surprisingly Good Base with a Good Dinner.”
This is a small hotel, part of a Danish national chain, in the more affluent Northern suburbs of Copenhagen but close to outlying business districts such as Lyngby. It's easy to reach by public transport from Copenhagen airport (tube, then change onto 'S-tog' (suburban train#, then easy walk from station#. Similarly very easy to get into Copenhagen for sight-seeing #'S-tog' direct every ten minutes#. The building itself is an old coaching-inn but modernised and significantly extended. The building is a little worn in places but quite acceptable.
It was very quiet when I was there #on business# but filled rapidly with mainly Danish families over Easter. My room was comfortable #think Premier Inn but better beds, bathroom and food# although the corridors are 'functional' - reminded me of ships' corridors.
Breakfasts are typical North-European: buffet-style with cereals, meats, Danish pastries and good coffee; service was a little sparse if you needed anything, though. Dinner was surprisingly good for such a small, suburban hotel and, given the quality of the food and presentation, it seemed reasonable value given that Denmark is expensive by UK standards.
All the staff were pleasant and helpful; the environs too are pleasant #large lake close by, a small local shopping centre#.
This was a last-minute booking which turned out well - a quiet, unimposing, comfortable hotel in a pleasant suburban district but with good communications to Copenhagen and local centres.
