“Best Place to Stay in Black Hawk”

For a great gambling get away this is a great hotel. Spacious rooms, excellent restaurants, friendly people, and naturally lots of slots.

“A Nice Hotel With Big Problems”

By far, this hotel was the nicest Ameristar Hotel we had ever stayed in but It has big problems everyone should know about First of all there was limited channels on the Television. From other reviews, I knew that before we arrived there. I called the front desk and asked about the limited service. The nice lady at the front desk said she would check to see what the problem was and would get back with me. I received a call a few minutes later and was told there was a windstorm last week. She said she was sorry the television wasn't working properly. The Big Problem was she lied to me. The hotel has know for weeks there was trouble with the system and she wanted me to believe this was an isolated event. This a a big hotel; great service; nice comfortable rooms but can't seem to be straight with their customers. Parking is another problem. You park or have a valet park your car and you carry all your baggage down 4 to 6 levels to the Casino floor, then you take your baggage practially through the casino to the hotel lobby and then another elevator up to your room. If you have a decent parking place, you better keep it because parking garage fills up quickly. I'll say it again; great hotel but Big Problem. It is located the most isolated town in Colorado. Not one business in town except gaming casinos. Gas station about 4 miles out of town. Streets are deserted, parking is a problem at times. Dining is fair. Lots of choices but it's mostly crappy buffet food.

Area recommendations

This town has no neighborhood. It is a gaming town with no businness except gaming. Not one store other than what's in the Casinos. Very isolated but if you want a nice hotel with expensive Spa treatments, this hotel is for you. Slot machines were entertaining. You can play more in the morning. By 5:00 PM, the pay out is turned way down, enough that you can notice it. I noticed the same pay out difference 4 days straight. This was in all Casinos in town. I don't expect to win at gaming; I expect to be entertained. I don't like being taken advantage of. For my fellow travelers....be careful in this town. Bring what you need because if you think you can buy it there if you forget something, you are mistaken.

Shopping

Not shopping in the town. Sixty miles West to Outlet malls or 40 miles east to Denver. Nothing in Black Hawk but Casinos. Gas station is 4 miles out of town.

The front desk clerk was rude. Beds were uncomfortable. room overpriced for Sun.-Mon. No breakfast buffet. No free birthday perks, etc....

“Nice stay”

“affordable luxury”

This hotel is gorgeous. While it is the more expensive hotel to stay at in the area, it is the nicest. The value of the hotel cannot be beat. Rooms are large, bathrooms are large, and everything is clean and comfortable. Only place where you can go sit outside in the hot tub too.

“Loved this hotel”

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay @ Ameristar Casino Resort &Spa we were there on off days Sunday and Monday the only time we waited in a line was at the Starbucks in the casino the food was great and well priced hotel staff was very helpful and friendly we will definately return to this hotel we even won a little bit...

“beautiful setting”

Great time in Blackhawk. The hotel rooms are very nice. We used this as a base and explored the area each day. Also has a great fitness center.
