“great stay at good price”
Not a 5 star but who cares when it is clean and comfortable great staff and a great location. No need to drive to attractions (take trolley to Battle field) Street parking very expensive so leave car in garage in back of hotel and get ticket stamped at front desk ($7.50) per day Would stay again in a heartbeat.
“Location is EVERYTHING”
Wonderful Hotel! Clean, safe and perfect location. Have been to Gettysburg several times and stayed just outside town.Outside town IS cheaper, but, I would spend the money again to stay here! The room was spacious, NO SMELLS OF MILDEW and the bed was heavenly....no kidding! We parked the car and walked everywhere! 2 THUMBS UP!
“Great location for a visit to Gettysburg”
Located on the square, the Gettysburg Hotel is an historic hotel property that puts you right in the middle of just about everything the town has to offer. The David Mills House (just across the street) is where Lincoln and other guests spent the night the day before he delivered the Gettysburg Address. The building houses a small but truly inspiring number of exhibits about Lincoln's stay and his address. Not knowing it was there prior to our arrival, a visit to the house was a delightful addition to our stay at the hotel. The hotel is also near galleries, shops and restaurants located in the many historic buildings of downtown Gettysburg. Would certainly recommend to anyone who seeks a stay (and an affordable one) in the kind of property listed in the National Trust's Historic Hotels of America.
“Good location”
The location is excellent and room is comfortable. Though the pillows and bed linens were dated, they were comfortable and clean and we had no problem at all. Breakfast did not look appetizing but we found a French cafe not too far from the hotel and had the best crepes there every morning. Dinner in the hotel was acceptable. We had minimal waiting time for the elevators, which in some hotels can be a problem.
“Great location, but not a perfect stay”
The hotel is without a doubt in the best location in Gettysburg. Quality-wise, I guess it is about what you expect from a Best Western, ok, but not great. Front desk service was poor, but the place was clean and the room was ok.
“Excellent hotel, just eat somewhere else.”
The hotel was great. The food at the restaurant and pub were of poor quality, and very over-priced.
“Fantastic Gettysburg Hotel”
Absolutely fantastic hotel. Room was clean, comfortable and exactly what we had asked for. The people at the front desk were polite, helpful and very nice. The ladies in the breakfast room could not do more to make you feel welcome and comfortable! The location was perfect for all the museums and battlefields. I would definitely reccomend this hotel.
“Great in Gettysburg”
Great, well-located hotel. My only disappointment was in not being told there would be a fee for parking. I was told to get my parking tickets validated at the hotel desk each time I went into the public garage, so I assumed the parking was free, but I was charged upon checkout. However, friends traveling with us had a room facing the road, and they were bothered with truth noise all night long.
“Location, location, location!”
Great stopover in Gettysburgh. The location was the best! My husband booked online a private driver (who drives your car) for a 2-hour tour...the only way to go. We discovered the rooftop pool and spent 2 hours relaxing...excellent after a day of touring. Dinner at the pub across the street from the hotel was excellent with great variety of beer. The sthops in Lincoln Square are quaint and a nice way to work off dinner...and buy some cute items. Would defintely recommend and stay here again!
“An ordinary Gettysburg address”
This is the most mediocre of the dozen or so Historic Hotels of America at which we've stayed. Our room was in the annex, which is historic in the sense that a 1999 Chevrolet Prism is historic. The hotel's lobby and corridors were acceptable (though not notable in any way); our room was a series of very small, dark spaces furnished by people who were challenged by the concept that a television is better viewed from a sofa placed across from it, not at right angles. Service at the restaurant (the one off the lobby) was dreadful--it shouldn't take fifteen minutes to get a glass of water, let alone order a drink--and the buffet singularly unappetizing. (The roast beef was so uncooked it was more like sushi). But the location is unbeatable, the front desk staff very welcoming, the drop-off and parking easy for an in-town location. Overall, preferable to a suburban motel wedged in near the battlefield, but a disappointment nontheless.
