“Great Value, Great Staff, Great Location, Its a Motorlodge...take it at what it is”

Remember, its a motor lodge not a 5 star resort. Think of it as "retro." Clean room, but dated interior. Would have looked brighter if exterior viewing window was cleaned. The room was clean and neat. The personnel (and owner?) of hotel were extremely accomodating and very personable. Location, Location, Location for the tourist crowd. You are in Gettysburg so you won't be spending a great deal of time in your room. Little fridge was great to keep beverages cold. Pool was refreshing. Not a big deal to walk to motel office for coffee, juice, pastry in the morning. I will definately stay here again and would recommend it. I travel extensively for work, was here for family business and would definately stay here again. AGain its a motor lodge not a 5 star resort.

Area recommendations
Gettysburg is more than the battlefield and museums. Get out and walk the streets off the tourism roads. Very safe, interesting finds on each street. If you love architecture and history this is the place to be.
What to pack
Pack light weight clothes, sneakers, visors/hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Lots of casual good home made type food. Higher price dining does exist but you want want a heavy meal. Gettysburg is one of the most reasonably priced vacation destinations across the country.

“A Decent Cheap Motel”

I picked the Budget Host Three Crowns Motor Lodge in Gettysburg because of the low rates and its convenient location within easy walking distance of the battlefield. I was travelling by myself and it was adequate for my needs. It was clean, quiet, cheap, in a great location and the staff were very friendly. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to anyone unless they understood that they shouldn't expect the Hilton.

Area recommendations
This was my first trip to Gettysburg since the new National Park Battlefield Visitor's Center opened. I was very impressed with it and would highly recommend it.
When to go
I was there in early April and the National Park Battlefield Visitor's Center was mobbed by school groups on end-of-year trips. If you don't like throngs of kids you might want to avoid April.
Must see
If you plan to visit the National Park Battlefield Visitor's Center I'd HIGHLY recommend the film, Cyclorama and the museum. But beware that you won't have much time in the Cyclorama so it would pay to read up about it in advance so you can take advantage of the brief viewing time.

“There weren't any other rooms available because of a WWII recreation weekend.”

Large room, but no refrigerator, DIRTY, old, looked as if it had never been referbished, very DARK (are they really saving on light bulbs?)

Area recommendations
Anywhere you stay in smallish Gettysburg is fine as it is all nice. The town itself has so much to do & see...history, museums, the battleground, good bus tours, tasty restaurants (Rorke's- BEST meatloaf!). The surrounding countryside is lovely.
Getting around
Take a scenic bus tour that includes the town & battlefield, then just walk around the town. The best value on the bus tour includes 5 admissions to museums. The bus tour also stops at a few points on the enormous battlefeld. Don't miss just walking around the cemetery in town on your own. We only had time for a 2 night stay, but want to go back...heard Yuletide was nice. LOTS to do. If interested, the Ghost Tours are fun, & most everything is in walking distance.

“not what we expected”

When we got there they did not have our reservation and had a hard time locating it, then they do not have any rooms with queen size beds as we had requested. They wanted us to stay in a room with a king bed and use a rollaway bed, when we told them no they seemed offended and they took there time finding us a room with 2 double beds, we took it but had requested 2 queen size beds as it is difficult for my husband sleeping in a double as he is over six feet and in a double his feet stick out the end. We were very disappointed with our experience with your service and some of the hotels you deal with.

“Budget is the key word”

We didn't expect much for what we paid but the hotel was adequate for just one night. There was no coffee pot in the room which was a disappointment. That means someone has to get dressed to go to the lobby.

“Great Location, Dirty Beds”

I guess you can't have it all here. The location is great, but when going to bed what do I find, but a gob of hair in between the sheets, I was so tired I wiped it off with a washcloth and slept. I should have called the office.
