not fit for even a homeless familyPosted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: The woman at the counter was very nice and very proud.
Cons: I wish the photos were more factual and could show the odor.
Location: My husband was a good sport about me booking this place but I wanted to go to another motel after the wedding party. You don't want to stay here.
I booked 1 night thru Expedia. At check-in the woman in the office was glowing and conducted herself as if she were behind the counter of a 5 star hotel. It looked like a motel where homeless families live on the state's dime. Very sad. Little children entertaining themselves around the dumpy parking lot. Our room's view was a pile of old mattresses; but they were a sign that ours might be a new mattress! The room looked like it wasn't going to smell good even before I entered. I brought a salad but couldn't eat here. Didn't want to touch anything. I dreaded going back after the wedding we came down for. The carpet felt grimy. It didn't help that my husband found a dead bug in the room (better than a live bug). We didn't dare leave anything in the room while we were gone. My husband wedged a chair against the door for the night. The room was clean but nothing was intact. The linens were clean. I didn't want to take a shower here. I couldn't leave fast enough. It was no bargain. My husband will never let me forget my poor decision.

The people who ran the motel were very nice and helpful. The price was very reasonable, but it was a little off the beaten path.

It is an old hotel but they make a strong effort to fix it up. It was freshly painted and the towels were nicer than the big hotels I stayed in.

Room smelled of smoke, although it was supposed to be non-smoking. Sheet had a yellow stain on it.

Would have rather stayed in town closer to the restaurants.

Decent motelPosted Aug 11, 2013
It's a few miles from the battlefield. It looks pretty run down on the outside but the rooms are comfortable. Some sketchy characters were staying there but they left us alone. All in all it was a decent room for the price.

Just far enough out of townPosted Aug 4, 2013 on Hotels
Low on amenities but reasonable rates for a weekend get-away. Room was very clean and the area was very quiet. Might consider a return stay if they added a pool.

It was like going back in time. I remember staying at simple places where you were provided friendly service but not a lot of amenities. For a safe, clean place to sleep, it was fine. Breakfast was coffee (no decaf) and a packaged sweet roll or a piece of fruit. Furniture was old but clean. There was no table, shelf in the bathroom for toiletries, or coffee pot. We would not have gotten kinder people. We could have paid twice as much or more for newer building but for an overnight stay, it was fine.
