While this is not the most luxurious NH we have stayed in, this is a first-rate hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Although it is a 25 minute walk to the old town, for the majority of people this should prove no hardship.
The rooms are modern, well-appointed and kept spotlessly clean. Our only gripe was that the double bed we had requested was not available.
There is a pool on the roof of the hotel; and for those who are unwilling to face the crowded beach, this should prove perfectly adequate. However, loungers and parasols are at a premium, so it pays to rise early if you wish to secure a spot. Moreover, unlike the wonderful NH in Livorno we visited last year, the bar on the roof terrace is rarely open. Apparently, it is owned by the restaurant in the basement, which is not linked to the group, and our brief contact with the staff of this "exclusive" establishment would suggest that they regard the guests with disdain.
