While it can be tempting to just kick back and relax when holidaying in Ginoza, don't forget, the surrounding region's treasure-trove of scenic wonders lie just beyond your doorstep. Chatan, lies roughly 17 miles (27 kilometers) to the northeast. Head there to see the Depot Island and Kadena Air Base.
About 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the southwest of Ginoza is Naha, a regional center where you can visit Himeyuri Peace Museum, Tamaudoun Site and Naminouegu Shrine. Shuri Castle, Shrikinjocho Stone-Path Road and Makishi Public Market are also good places to visit.
If you want to stay indoors, you can't do better than Okinawa 's excellent palaces, theaters and nature museums. These are great spots to learn about the local lore and culture and find a special souvenir or two. Ask a local their sightseeing recommendations, they'll often suggest Okinawa 's gardens, farms and open-air museums.
