Older motor lodge in convenient locationPosted Nov 24, 2013
Pros: Convenient location in downtown Glen Ellen. Large room.
Cons: Breakfast was extremely basic. Definitely, an opportunity for improvement.
Location: A grocery and market are easily walkable. A few small restaurants, including Glen Ellen Star.
Older motor lodge in heart of Glen Ellen. Doors open to the inner parking lot. Room was large and clean, but looks very dated. It was the clean, basic accommodations that I sought. Would stay here again if in the area.

Great Location...Average InnPosted Oct 25, 2013
Pros: The setting in a corner of the town on Glen Ellen and the proximity to Jack LOndon State Park
Cons: As above...redo the bathrooms and upgrade the decor
Location: Jack London State Park and Museum...do not miss it!
The Jack London Inn/Lodge is well located on a corner in Glen Ellen and is somewhat pleasing on the exterior. But the rooms could do with a make-over. They are reminiscent of motels of the 1950's. Beds were comfortable, but the ambience of the rooms was drab and not entirely fresh...the quilt looked like it needed a wash. If they really wanted to spruce up the rooms they could redo the bathrooms so they aren't part of the bedroom. I find this arrangement a bit dreary for $150+/night hotel in October.

Nice Room, Great LocationPosted Oct 9, 2013
Pros: Staff, extremely pleasant. Location and proximity to area vineyards
Location: We went hiking in Jack London Park. nice place for a hike. Great location for base for wine tasting through Sonoma.
We booked the Jack London Lodge in the afternoon of our stay there through Expedia. We chose this place because of the location and price, as we were only staying one night in the Sonoma area as we made our way from Mendocino to San Francisco. We also planned on hiking a little in The lady working the check-in desk could not have been nicer, even joked around with us when I asked if the hot-tub and pool was clothing optional. She asked where we were going to eat, and said we would enjoy it, but would suggest if we were going to be having a few drinks to stay local in Glen Ellen and suggested a few places. We took her advice and ate at the Glen Ellen Inn. Great meal, terrific service and atmosphere. The lady at the desk also gave us free entry to Jack London Park and four one-way ferry passes for the Angel Island Ferry in San Fran, we had a great time hiking there. Thanks again! The room at Jack London was very nice. Clean, nice water pressure in the shower (a pet peeve of mine is low water pressure). The beds were comfortable, a little soft for my taste but after a long day of wine tasting and dinner it was perfect. The pool area was very clean, they had someone out there first thing in the morning wiping down all of the tables, chairs and cleaning the pool. The hot tub was nice as well, again after a long day it was nice to relax in. We did not partake in the continental breakfast but the outdoor setup was very nice and saw many guests enjoying it.

Great findPosted Sep 30, 2013
I would go back there again. It's clean, comfortable and quiet. Nice accommodations, and you certainly can't beat the price.

Hotel in lovely surroundingsPosted Sep 15, 2013
Pros: Close to good restaurants and market with deli.
Cons: Refurbishment would improve facilities and make more value for money. New furnishings would make room more comfortable. Proper cleaning.
Location: Lovely walks nearby, good place to rest having visited local vin yards.
Stayed in room one - in twilight all the time because of canopy. Breakfast outside - nothing inside on a chilly morning. Old hotel everything dated but well decorated. Noise transfers from above room.

It's a gem - freshly updated, great locationPosted Aug 23, 2013
Pros: Room, location, price, grounds
Cons: Breakfast. Same things every day and the server didn't keep it well stocked. Seemed there were guests standing around waiting for OJ every day.
Location: Village market across the street, Jack London State Park, numerous lovely wineries, Ben and Jerry's in Sonoma square.
We reserved mostly based on reviews and prices - room photos weren't enticing - but our actual room was lovely. Fresh paint and tile, *real* furniture, a ceiling fan that kept us cool without AC (ground-floor room, outside temps in mid-80s), and a small fridge, which came in handy since some of our best meals came from the AMAZING market across the street. The pool area is lovely - flowers! - with at least some shade all day. The pool is clean but cold. The hot tub is nice. Location is excellent. There are some nice restaurants right there in Glen Ellen, and the market. Benziger is practically next door. Jack London State Park is just up the hill and we strongly recommend a visit; fascinating place. Sonoma is just minutes away, with its nice square and many shops and restaurants. And of course lots of wineries are in easy driving distance. The hotel manager recommended VJB, and that ended up being our favorite; we loved every wine they served us. It's about ten minutes north and is a wonderful lunch stop for their deli and wood-fired pizza.

Relaxing hotel in beautiful setting.Posted Jul 12, 2013
Pros: The peace and quiet with just the sound of birds and running water. Landscaping is beautiful and lush. Loved the antique furnishings and bed linens.
Cons: It's minor but I just hated the shower head and handle. They looked to be very old and crusty.
Location: The location, across from a wonderful market and near to all other local amenities- state parks, botanical garden, wineries, restaurants, is perfect!
If my mother just wants to sit out by the garden/pool, then it has to be a very relaxing place! Could've stayed longer if we had the time. Very nice continental breakfast in a lovely garden-patio setting with a running fountain along side a creek....more relaxation! This hotel is ideal for couples. However, a get-away with your best friend/mother or even just yourself would be just as nice.

Location: Real beef and turkey Jerky smoker deli down the street, Sonoma raceway a few miles away.
Nice, clean, breakfast outsid, Try the Luxton Syrah wine. SMALL WINERY a mile away. Exc, smart (Physicist) winemaker, Knows his stuff. Loved talking w/ him. Hotel away from hustle and bustle, relaxing Sonoma wine country. Restaurant alittle pricey, but it's wine country.

Comfortable little gemPosted Jun 13, 2013
No frills hotel but quite comfortable. There are no fancy front desk lobby or too many amenities. The room is decent. Facilities are basic but clean and well maintained. Staff are very friendly. If you have time at night be sure to check out the salon next door (that is also where you would pick up your key for late arrival). This is a place I would stay again if I am visiting the area.
