“Will definitely return”

Excellent hotel with bags of character. Set in the beautiful Cheltenham town centre, the car park has plenty of space and the hotel looks fantastic inside and out. The huge central vault leading to all the rooms is very impressive. The staff are helpful and attentive. The evening meal was delicious and reasonable in the very pleasant restaurant. A stroll to the town centre was easy and a real pleasure, the hotel is a perfect base. We were on the top floor so noise from the street was minimal. My only complaint was that the room was a little hot. There is aircon but it cannot be controlled by the guest, if this was changed the room would have been perfect and my comfort and overall satisfaction ratings would have been 5 stars instead of 4. One more slight complaint is the hotel charging for the privilege of using their car park. Should be free to paying guests surely? Especially as it is free to visitors to the restaurant who spend over a certain amount, which we did. The only consolation was they let us leave the car for a few hours after we checked out to get lunch and go shopping. Would highly recommend, great hotel in a beautiful town. Excellent and unrushed check out time of midday as well, better that many hotels...

“Good, clean hotel”

Good hotel at a good location just off the centre of the city. Two-three minutes walk away. Very old, historical building with the age marks being more that evident but the hotel is very well kept and the service is impecable. I would go back and I highly recommend it. Very good and pleasant place to stay

“LOVELY HOTEL WITH A COUPLE OF CAVEATS”

I really enjoyed my stay at the Mercure Queens in Cheltenham and really the only thing that spoilt the stay was the lack of ventilation in the room - the windows are locked at a certain height to prevent you jumping out and the aircon only went down to 18C which in practice was more like 28C. Apart from not actually sleeping in my specific room, the location, architecture, breakfast and staff were all lovely. Just avoid room 227.

Stayed at the hotel July 2007 ,Its now owned by Mercure , No issues with the hotel great location and the room was a reasobnable size. Cant comment on the breakfast I was on the room only rate , so went out for breakfast

“Disappointed”

Having stayed at the hotel a few years ago and been impressed, I was looking forward to our visit. Sadly (under new ownership?) it is now tired and shabby in places and the service was poor. I think they are refurbishing (?); I shall not return until I know it has been improved. the lack of a bar (with very poor lounge service) is a problem.
