Reception and bar staff were extremely helpful.Posted Jul 30, 2015
Pros: The service and comfort of the bed.
Cons: Less of the oppressive atmosphere in the bar would be the only thing to improve...
Location: Great restaurants very close by.
Great hotel - Bar staff and reception staff made the stay even better - I will be booking another weekend break in September at this hotel.

Perfect location but Hotel needs complete renovationPosted Apr 18, 2015 on Hotels
Hotel needs renovation and is expensive for its current state. Breakfast served in a garden room was excellent. Lounge/reception area furniture was very poor, chairs had frayed threadbare covers not what you expect of a hotel in this price bracket. Also parking should be free £10 a day is excessive. Location is perfect.

Very bad service after no warm waterPosted Apr 4, 2015 on Hotels
Out of 5 days I had 3 days with no warm water to take a shower. They were 'upgrading' their warm water system that week, but the note in my room said that warm water was not available only between 10:00-16:00. I could not leave the hotel for business reasons while hoping for the better every morning. I asked for compensation which was difficult as the hotel was paid in full through hotels.com, but the hotel staff promised me twice that they would get in contact with me. After a month I'm still waiting.

Not good enough for a "premium" hotelPosted Apr 2, 2015 on Hotels
Booked into this hotel due the location which was just right. Room and hotel seemed ok but unfortunately there was no hot water for the shower in the morning despite the sink being ok. Also major building works were going on which were very noisy. Finally, and this is what really got me ... I complained on check-out and was assured that I would be contacted by the hotel management ... which never happened! Unacceptable. Will go back to the Big Sleep hotel down the road for the next time.

Excellent previlige RoomPosted Mar 21, 2015
We booked 3 previlige rooms for our families couple of nights stay. These room are spacious and comfortable. 2 of the rooms had been newly renovated. One of the room had a lumpy mattress and they transferred us to another newly renovated room. The breakfast is good but nothing special. We did dine in the hotel restaurant. The food was excellent and good value. On the whole a very enjoyable stay. One warning though - parking is £10 per night!

Newly refurbished room was lovely.Posted Mar 5, 2015 on Hotels
Stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms which was really nice. Bed was so comfortable! Staff were very pleasant. I understand the whole hotel is slowly being refurbished which when complete will make it a really nice place in a great position.

Looks nice initially, but too many problemsPosted Feb 23, 2015 on Hotels
Was after a nice hotel for a valentines night out and dinner. First impressions were that the hotel was very stylish with it's traditional styling's, however Victorian/antique came too close to dated and worn with some poor condition furniture and lack of attention to detail. But this and the cobwebs in the bathroom would have been forgivable if not for the other faults. The room was baking hot with the heating on full blast across the whole of the hotel. I turned off one radiator but the other had no thermostat... So I had to resort to putting on the air con which after a couple hours did nothing what so ever to the room temperature. So I had to open the windows the small fraction they would open and leave the curtains open. This of course then exposed us to a busy Cheltenham road with traffic and drunks going by all night. Which again, for a slightly cooler room I could have dealt with... but the pillows were so hard I would have had a more comfortable sleep on a brick! I expected much more for my money after paying for a superior room. Breakfast was served till 11 so we went down at 10:30. Had to wait 10 minutes to be seated because there seemed to be no staff, and by 10:45 the staff were clearing the room around us. The food was very nice, but once again, it was so hot! Sweating at the breakfast table, and feeling rushed to eat up and leave wasn't the best experience!
