What a wonderful place Ferndale House is, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel incredibly welcome, Christine greeted us and was absolutely charming. The property is very well presented and our room was just great, fantastic attention to detail, would not or could not fault it. The breakfast in the morning was spot on and the level of consideration was excellent. We were a family holiday, myself, my wife and our 2 young sons (3 & 10) and we would certainly go back to Ferndale House. Many thanks for such a lovely stay.

Lovely and friendly staff. To get to accommodation up a small steep flight of stairs. As you would expect, low ceiling in the doorways. Lovely room, can be noisy in the afternoon as you do hear customers in the pub, but we didn't have any issues at night. Room was clean, nicely presented. Wifi as well in room, once we were given correct wifi password. Great pub if you like horse racing, with a lot of history of the sport On the walls. Bitters and larger variety are limited, but fine. Evening meals were reasonable and very high quality.

"Lovely setting with beautiful views across fields."
Room was nice and clean and looked out over shetland ponies grazing in green fields. Own separate bathroom although right next door to our room. Breakfast was very filling with everything from yoghurt and fruit to crumpets and cheese. Would definitely stay there again.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, having stayed there twice in recent weeks for several nights. All the staff were very helpful, warm and friendly. The price is very reasonable indeed and includes a wonderful breakfast. The lovely breakfast chef prepares the breakfast of your choice at the time of your choice (within broad parameters); he knows the secret of the best fried bread! The hotel is an easy bus journey to Gloucester if travelling without a car. I really appreciated the dressing gown that appeared like a gift towards the end of my stay; not something I would expect for this price, so thank you! The room was warm, comfortable and spacious with a lovely private bathroom just along the corridor. They also have en suite and family rooms.
The local countryside is glorious and all the local people I met, especially the ladies getting on the bus who had lived there for many years, were very friendly and helpful.
The area's wildlife has very sadly been targeted as part of the badger cull and it remains one of many parts of the country where there are local hunts. However, this is a reason to visit, especially over the next 2 weeks, so that you can help to protect the local badgers through Gloucestershire Against Badger Shooting.

We received a very warm and friendly welcome. Our room was clean and cosy with fantastic forest views. Our home-cooked breakfast and evening meal were both delicious and plentiful. A lovely relaxed atmosphere. Our little dog was also made very welcome; taking her along meant that we could holiday together for the first time in many years without one of us having to stay at home with her. Great stay!
