Good friendly and helpful staff. Short easy walk in to town centre, good local pubs.

Almost but not quite.Posted Sep 13, 2012
Good car park at the rear of the hotel, though serious potholes getting to it. Friendly informative manager who gave my wife and I lots of useful local information. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Nicely decorated spacious bedroom with a tiny, barely usable shower room. However, the room was at the back of the hotel and therefore quiet so we put up with it.The quilt on the bed was a heavy, winter weight duvet (our stay was in August!) we were roasting at night. I asked for a summer weight but was told (politely) that none were available. Our room was not hoovered during the three days we stayed there. Getting the TV to work required a science degree! Almost but not quite. Not sure if we'd use it again, probably not.

a two night stayPosted Jun 27, 2012
Pros: friendly staff
Location: a very short walk into gloucester city
on first impressions of the hotel it doesnt look up to much, but as soon as you get inside you soon realise it has plenty of character.because its a small run hotel you are shown to your room and this for me is a small personal touch.we had a top room (double exeutive en suite)it was large enough, our only complaint would be the shower was ok but would have been nice to have a bath, but we did know this before we went.staff are very helpful the girls who serve breakfast are very imformative and do serve a very hearty breakfast. overall it was a very good stay would reccommend

OK, but not greatPosted Jun 22, 2012 on Hotels.com
The owners and staff were wonderful, bright and cheerful. Not only that, I was upgraded to a king size bed from a twin room. However, the king bed had two distinct 'tracts' where a person or persons had slept. The coverlet was very thin, while the room was quite chilly, and there were no extra blankets available. The room overlooked the street and there was little or no noise that could be heard once the windows were closed. The bathroom floor was a little sticky--as if the cleaning agent used to mop it wasn't rinsed completely. The shower dripped all night long. Overall, nothing horrible, but nothing to rave about either. For the price and convenience of the location, I was satisfied.

Friendly and close to city centrePosted Jun 21, 2012 on Hotels.com
I was very impressed with the Edward Hotel, and the kindness and friendliness of all staff. The owner was very helpful in giving local information and the staff could not have been more attentive. I will certainly be recommending it to family and friends

Well located to where we needed to bePosted May 17, 2012 on Hotels.com
Gloucestershire is my wife's home county and we were there for a family reunion with relatives from Australia. The Edward is a nice - if slightly quirky hotel on London Road, close to the city, and convenient to the railway station. The hotel was very busy on the Saturday night, and Sunday breakfast was very slow, other than that there were no complaints. The host appeared to be a man under pressure, and was very difficult to engage in conversation - even general pleasantries appeared to be a struggle! However our room was clean and tidy, the bed very large and comfortable, and the shower worked well. We would stay again

Very goodPosted May 10, 2012
Location: Ideal location if you do not have a car. Manageable, if you do have one.
Centrally located and close to all amenities. Would definitely stay there again.

An Edwardian ExperiencePosted Apr 19, 2012 on Hotels.com
The staff were friendly but they had no record of our booking from Hotels.com. Not a problem as they had spare rooms, and the booking was finally traced some time later. The bedroom was small, but the bed comfortable. My wife saw cobwebs in the canopy over the bed. The breakfast was excellent. Overall impression - a bit run down.
