Hidden Gem

Posted Jul 2, 2015
Pros: Hidden gem with great aura
Location: Golf, dining, location, and scenery
Did not expect as wonderful an experience that we had. Great location with golf course attached. Room was small but only slept in room and enjoyed the accommodations.

Wonderful outlook

Posted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: Good quality and sized bath towels. Young, cheerful and very helpful staff.
Cons: Banging froot door under room 1.
Location: Good for visiting High Grove and Dyrham Park, which is still worth a visit despite roof being refurbished.
Very enjoyable couple of nights. Amazing outlook and excellent position for visiting Highgrove.

There Are Others

Posted Jun 24, 2015
Pros: Good restaurant. At least that saved the anniversary from ruin
Cons: Honesty about the state of the room
Location: Just passing through
The room No.3 was uncomfortably hot and there was only a small quarter light in the window to allow air in. There was no air circulation. I had to leave the bathroom door open with the extractor fan going to try to improve matters. Is it beyond the wit of man to either install a window with a larger opening window or fit a small air con unit. After all the room is very small with just enough space to move around the bed. I suppose this is the trade off of getting a room "on offer". Best bet for others is to book a room then phone to check if it's room 3 and if so cancel or ask to be moved

Beautiful lodge but very small double bed

Posted Jun 18, 2015
Pros: Lovely dining and lounge areas. Food and wine top class.
Cons: Bed needs to be bigger. Floor slopes. New pillows.
Location: Golf course onsite.
Excellent food and wine. Lovely gardens to eat lunch or have a drink. Pleasant lounge and snug. Only drawback was the bed which was very small and slopped downwards - did not make for a good sleep. Also would have been good to have a couple of light blankets rather than just the doona which was too hot. Very picturesque in the middle of the common but make sure you get good directions - not easy to find.

nice hotel/inn/pub in beautiful countryside

Posted Jun 12, 2015
Pros: breakfast was great, location
Cons: The rooms!
staff were welcoming, but room was shocking, dirty, & so hot you needed window open, which is fine, but it meant the doors rattled and banged all night, the radiator cover fell on my during the night 3 times etc

Nice hotel in the middle of a pretty common

Posted May 13, 2015
A nice hotel which was reasonably good value with easy parking and friendly staff. I didn't really like the bed being as low as it was but it was comfy. The TV only had 1 channel working but the food was great and the staff were helpful and welcoming.

Great location, on the common at Minchinghampton.

Pros: See above
Cons: see above.
Location: See above.
Willing stff made transport of bags to our room very simple. Great beamed old room with modern uplift. Wonderful surroundings on Minchinghampton `common, surrounded by a municipal golf course, it is an ideal weekend retreat. Some further uplift of the room is required and the period chairs in theroom were the most uncomfortable I hav e evr encountered in a hotel anywhere in the world!! However, the bed was woderfully comfortable.

Peace and tranquility on a golf course.

Pros: Situation close to the beautiful Cotswold with easy access to major tourist spots.
Cons: Leave it alone it's great as it is.
Location: Within easy reach of main tourist places in the south Cotswolds.
Enjoyed a one night stay arriving Sunday lunch time. The place was buzzing and the meals being served looked delicious. Room 2 was at the front of the pub overlooking the lovely beer garden. On entering the room there is an immediate step down which I consider was a safety issue as there was no warning about this as you entered the room. Room was tiny with an adequate shower en suite but the very comfortable four poster bed made up for what the room lacked in size. Evening meal of roast lamb with braised vegetables was excellent. Wonderful full English breakfast. I would certainly use this pub again. Especially if I got another value for money deal from Expedia.
