“Fabulous hotel”
From the momennt you arrive at the Hotel, you are greeted with a fruit punch and from then onwards it just gets better and better. The view from the Hotel lobby itself is out of this world - it just takes your breath away! The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. We found the Goans very hospitable. I would definitely go back again!
“Simply Fantastic”
When you pull up to the hotel you will see the front is completely open and as you walk in you get hit by the seabreeze and the amazing view of the sea. Staff are very friendly and polite and everything is very cheap and the food is fantastic such a big variety to choose from. There are two shops in the hotel one does ornaments and souveniers and the other does cigarettes and will also sort a tailor made suit out for you for about 80 pounds very good quality as well. If you go out the hotel be prepared for people coming up to you and begging and also people coming up to you in the streets trying to sell you things and also being dragged into shops. The hotel will take you out for two hours in a car to go wherever you want for a very small charge, its worth doing so you can see how these people live. Its a big Eye Opener
“Hotel is just great but do explore outside too!”
The outdoor pool is a delight, so shaped that you can actually swim decent lengths if you want to, or just watch the boats going up and down the river. The breakfast buffet was terrific, but we only had a week so couldn't test everything personally! Nice size of bedroom, with plenty of space and an insanely comfortable bed. Spacious bathroom, endless supply of dry towels which was most welcome for extra showers after sightseeing in all that sunshine. Our youngsters gave the Spa and beauty salon end of things a good report and we all appreciated the Travel Desk lady's help in sorting out a dolphin-watching boat trip at short notice. The dolphins showed up right on schedule...big smiles all round! The staff were very polite, helpful and eager to make it a good holiday. The concierge knew her stuff and helped us to achieve what we wanted outside the resort...and there was plenty to do and see. The waiters at the cocktail bar in the pool were an entertainment in themselves and the artist who left towel sculptures on our bed one day deserves an award! Altogether a very good experience.
“Don't go for the kids' club or the beach”
The kids' club was a bit of a disappointment. There were scheduled activities throughout the day but didn't seem all that exciting and it was a small room that the club was housed in. Would be nice to see more activities based on age level. Also, while the hotel was nice, food great and the pool occupied us all, I was disappointed that you couldn't swim at the beach in front of the hotel, though with the ships going by it would probably be dirty. Next time I'll stay in South Goa.
“Relaxing”
The hotel and service more than met my expectations. Considering it's proximity to Panaji, there was little if any traffic noise, although there were plenty of boats making their way up and down the river. The food was good, with a very plentiful choice from the buffet and the a la carte menus; the service was sometimes a little slow, but given the number of guests, understandable. The outdoor fish restaurant was extremely good with a wide selection of fresh fish cooked to perfection.
“Excellent place to stay at”
The Marriott in Panaji is a great place to be at. Great lobby, open to the sea, and with a small bar alongside, which plays live music in the mornings and evenings. The room was nice and clean and well appointed, with a complimentary fruit basket and dessert on the first day, and handmade chocolates dropped in every evening. The management also invites guests for a evening of cocktails and "get to know the guests" session once a week, which was fun. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful, going to great lengths to make sure we were kept happy. One thing though - the hotel advertises a private beach - however, this is accessible only during low tide, and at that point it is covered with the debris brought in by the tide - not exactly very appealing to walk on!
“Clean, Quiet & Safe Resort”
We only spent the weekend in Goa, so didn't have an opportunity to see/do much. The resort was perfect for lying by the pool or any of the grassy areas on a lounge chair and getting some sun. It had an o.k. spa with very reasonable rates on a mani/pedi. The open air lounge overlooking the ocean was really relaxing to have a cocktail and when it closed, we went to the indoor lounge which had a pool table and plenty of room to sit and relax.
“Not a 5 Star hotel”
The first room we were offered smelt awful and oozed stagnant dampness. It was a tired room that did not appear remotely comfortable so the hotel offered us the opportunity to inspect another room, but because the hotel was fully booked the only room they had available was a twin room, which again suffered from the same awful smell of damp. We accepted the room as it was marginally better than the previous room. We also did not have any other choice. Immediately our bathroom began to smell like a sewer. Despite being cleaned daily there was a strong unpleasant smell, so we contacted the hotel and somebody attended to the smell. This temporarily halted the smell but the following day the smell returned and we conceded defeat. On calling the room service one evening I requested a glass of milk and after asking how long it would take was incredulously told that it would be 35 minutes, so I suggested that I would go to the kitchen and collect it myself. They advised me that they would call me back in 10 minutes and within that time they had delivered my milk. The swimming pool was tired and the beach was not remotely appealing. On returning from Goa, our irritation was compounded as we opened our suitcases to be greeted with our clothes which were emitting the same damp smell that we had endured for the duration of our stay, and that sadly, is our overriding memory. Do not be fooled by the website photos. On a positive note the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
