“Holiday of a Lifetime”
This hotel exceeded our expectations. The location was fantastic, with lovely, well maintained gardens leading down to the beautiful beach. The gardens included a private part of the beach with hammocks, which were great to lay in to watch the sunset over the sea. The giant chess set and maze were also a nice touch. The tennis and golf was charged to hire the equipment, so we did not do this. The tennis court, although grass, wasn't in the best condition.
The rooms were comfortable, and the housekeeping service fantastic. The shower in the bathroom was particularly nice!
The swimming pool was relatively busy in the morning and in the evening, but virtually deserted during the afternoon. The swim-up sunken bar did nice cocktails.
The food in the hotel restaurant was varied, but the quality was not quite up to the same standard as other Royal Orchid hotels, or some of the restaurants nearby. The service of the waiters was very slow too. Our friends who were staying further along the beach visited one afternoon, and when one of them jumped in the pool, one of the hotel waiters was much faster to demand a backhander to let him use the pool, which we did not pay!
Overall though it is a wonderful hotel - very quiet, very relaxing, beautiful gardens and beach. Perfect for a romantic and relaxing getaway.
