a pleasent surprise

Pros: The personal service from Caroline and Robert, comfort and cleanliness of the rooms and amenities provided
Cons: nothing comes to mind
Location: You can go bush walking or explore the past in Advancetown,or go to the beach a short 15 minutes drive away
We booked a room in this charming b&b at Gilston behind Nerang 15 minutes away from the gold coast depending on traffic and time of the day,we had discovered a rare gem ,not only in the setting, but also in the service provided by Caroline and Robert the owners of riviera bed and breakfast set in bush land filled with bird life and other critters common to the bush . we elected to have dinner and breakfast there ,simply for a change from crowded restaurants,and were pleasently surprised at the fare on offer,robert cooks for the pleasure of cooking his cooking is [provencal and nicois] home cooking a la francaise ,the ratatouille was out of this world ,the lamb served on a bed of rice with green vegetables tasted like no other lamb i have ever tasted,at breakfast we had coffee with a choice of juice toast and home made marmalade,but the tour de force was the omellette prepared the night before with secret ingredients,the omellette was worth the trip on its on,we will definitely be back

Pros: Convenient location to the Gold Coast, lush green surrounds, helpful and friendly staff, comfortable well priced accommodation.
Beautiful location surrounded by lush vegetation, friendly staff, close to the Gold Coast attractions but away from the noise and traffic.

Location: Away from it all, close to gold coast
Value: Great deal; Service: Go the extra mile; close enough to Gold Coast, but secluded setting. very relaxing and best value

Cosy stay

Beautiful accomodation with wonderful hosts. Caroline gave us a warm welcome and made us feel right at home. My 2 young children (5 and 8 years) enjoyed much the huge box full of lego in the common room.

Dream Weekend

Pros: Without a doubt Caroline and Stephano's love for what they do and the way they make you feel like part of their family.
Cons: Air conditioning would be a good idea
Location: Central to everything you want on the Gold Coast or Hinterland. Give me lush and green over concrete any day
I don't believe I have ever been able to say that I truly enjoyed any hotel or B&B until my stay here. My girlfriend and I recently spent an amazing weekend in this beautiful old Queenslander. We were greeted by the beautiful owner Caroline and her son Stephano and immediately made to feel like one of the family. This was my girlfriends first time in a B&B and like me was blown away by the location and the hospitality. The room was beautiful and facilities first rate, breakfast on the balcony is a must, beautiful food and awesome company. Arrived as strangers but left as friends.

We felt you were part of the family almost from day 1 of your 3 night stay with Tracey. Thank you for your very encouraging comments, Daryl. Holiday from hell!

Booking was lost so had to spend first night at another place with no reception. Came back next day and had to wait 5 hours to get into room and had to listen to the owners bicker all day. Every time we tried to get a meal at the place the owner came up with a new excuse. 24 hours notice for dinner??? Are you kidding me?? I had to go to coles and buy $50 worth of food because the owner wouldn't feed us. She had overbearing rules and made us feel like an burden. We left for home 2 days early and told her to keep the money. I was happy to pay $220 to get as far away from her as possible. When I told the owner I was leaving all she cared about was booking the room for that night even though I had paid for 2 extra nights. We tried to be understanding at first and were happy to be mellow but she took advantage of our good nature. She constantly left the hotel unattended with guests running it. I was the only one around to greet new guests and had to explain to them I was not the owner. Its places like this that give Bed and breakfasts a bad name. Also she was going to charge us the same for dinner as weekends and even admitted to us she doesn't put in any effort on weekdays. Hope she goes out of business the way she abused our good nature.

Yes, sorry Stephanie for the double booking & no wifi at replacement accommodation of which I wasn't aware. I'll know for the future. My son & I may have had a disagreement & yes, that was unfortunate but you were not here for long so it was hardly "all day". At our B&B meals are not automatically on offer. I do not remember refusing to feed you but French Meals are very time-consuming so they are ordered by arrangement only, with 24 hrs notice. It's true that our French Provincial Dinners, served on weekdays & weekends, are always the same price. You may remember that I did actually take your dinner order and had begun preparing it when you cancelled it because of your decision for any early departure. Each B&B has its own different services and I think this needs to be taken into consideration when looking at one's needs. Check-in is fr 3 pm, but Stephanie you arrived at 10 am, so yes, you had a 5 hr wait in beautiful surroundings for housekeeping to be done, including for your room to be ready but you decided to leave before evening so this was counted as 1 day's accommodation. Sorry for any misunderstanding but I spoke of re-booking your room that night so as to refund your money if booked. I left B&B to collect daughter from work only once (not constantly) & another guest arrived during that time who I had forewarned & who was OK about my fulfilling parental duties with my husband away. I don't believe there were any guests asked to 'run' our B&B in my absence. So, yes, Stephanie, your choice to cancel your booking did mean a loss of $99 (net rate for B&B operators) as I was not able to rebook your room as can sometimes be the case. Our check-in form with terms & conditions & which you signed clearly did state that 'there is no refund for time unused'. It's unfortunate that you didn't find at our B&B what you were looking for.

Yes, there is the occasional plastified guideline for guests to consider....it is simply for the sake of working towards harmonious living together and with other guests in our beautiful B&B....thanks for understanding.
