Very noisy hotel

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Worse nights sleep in three week trip, anytime anyone turned on a tap or flushed a toilet in another room the plumbing noise Was very loud then we had lorries reversing outside our window with the usual peeping noises at 03.00 and 03.30. When this was told to the receptionist she said "sorry"

Not a bad night

Pros: Good beds, minimal highway noise (even though it is right off Highway 1. Close to downtown Golden.
Cons: It seems that significant renovations are underway -- there are large piles of construction materials in the lobby which make the place less inviting.
Location: outdoor activities (hiking, biking, skiing, water sports), live music in town, good stopping point for x-country drives.
Wanted to stay at one of the nicer hotels that is actually *in* Golden (as opposed to at the Kicking Horse Resort). Not exactly a perfect location, but walkable to the downtown, and well-served by Mount 7 Taxi. Clean and comfortable (beds are very good), and not too much highway or train noise (you can hear both from almost anywhere in Golden). Staff were very pleasant. May have been just a touch pricey for the experience, but it was all in all a good stay.

"Too expensive for limited amenities"

Posted Sep 13, 2012
Pros: Location
Cons: Expense versus amenities
This was a newer hotel with beautiful lobby, but the room had poor lighting and modest quality towels. Breakfast was provided at a cost. For the price of the room, breakfast should have been free!

Pros: THE BEDS!!!!!! So comfy. Our kids were asleep in no time. Staff was very kind as well!!
Cons: Our family found the pool cold and would have like a hot tub!!!
Location: We stayed in Valemont and Golden Best Westerns :)
We stayed in three separate Best Westerns on our trip to and from BC this summer. All of the were AWESOME!!!! I would love to know what is the make of the beds you use?? If you could let me know I would appreciate it!!! Golden hotel's pool was a bit cold and could use a hot tub. Staff was kind and friendly and our room was extremely clean !!!!
