Great stay in the grand middle of nowherePosted Oct 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great accommodations with lots of room. Gorgeous view of Chancellor Peaks from the front of the cabin. Easy walk to Kicking Horse River, and several rugged attractions nearby. Nearest grocery store is about 15 miles away, so take supplies. There is a very well equipped full kitchen. Follow Google Maps, not your Sat Nav. Our Sat Nav took us all the way to Golden, which was way out of the way. The location is about 15 km east of Golden. Take the Beaver Foot (not beaverfood) exit off Canada 1.

No cell no tv no internet. Very rustic! Be prepared for power outages.

Beautiful and rather remotePosted Aug 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
We LOVED the chalet we stayed in at Chancellor Peaks but it was a little tricky to find . . . however, worth looking for!! BEAUTIFUL location in the mountains, near a river, and very nice log cabins that are well maintained and clean. The desk person on duty went above and beyond the usual to assist us. We would stay again any time!

We loved the place, walking paths right onsite, nice waterfall at Wapta near by, great views and the lady that runs the site was super nice.

Beautiful remote location, but noisy dogsPosted Apr 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
The cabins are in a nice remote location, and the road leading to it was in good condition. Beautiful bright well-equipped log cabins, just a bit of a maintenance issue (broken TV table, broken toilet flapper). There is a dog sledding business down the road. At the time of our visit, they had 78 sled dogs who howled, especially at night.

Better than a downtown hotel!!!Posted Mar 27, 2013
Pros: the logs, the ambience, the fireplace, the wine (our contribution), the tub by the foot of the bed
Cons: no sugar for the morning coffee
Location: 25 kms east of Golden, nice location
The location is not downtown Golden BC and near to restaurants as appears on Expedia. We phoned the manager as we were en-route and found out the hotel was in a remote area about 25 kms east of Golden BC. Good thing we called! The log cabins were beautiful, comfortable, warm. We loved our 1 night stay! The manager was friendly and helpful. No complaints.

Ripped off by managementPosted Mar 10, 2013
I made reservations for a weekend getaway through Expedia, which I paid in full. I was to meet friends there who were coming from the Revelstoke area on March 1st. Rogers pass ended up being closed for over 12 hours due to avalanche control so they would have never made it across. I tried to call this hotel several times with no answer, I called Expedia, since I had made the reservation through them, they tried to call as well to make the cancellation and had no luck either. In the end, the management at this place did not want to refund me, not even a chance to have a discount for another weekend in the future. They said that where I was coming from (Calgary) the roads were fine and that I had not tried to call to cancel. Basically they called me a liar and expected me to spend the weekend by myself because I could have made it, even though my friends were stuck at the other side of Rogers pass. I had originally hesitated after reading the many negative reviews that this place's management received in the past, unfortunately they were right, and I should have listened to them. The place looks very nice, but I will never stay there unless they get some other people to run it, people who know what "hospitality" means. Lucky that Expedia.ca rocks, and they gave me a voucher for $200 that I could use for any future travel I booked through them, so it wasn't a total loss. Had I booked directly through the hotel website I would have lost the $ 356.98 I had paid in advance.
