Special deal maybe not so special

Posted Apr 16, 2014
Took a chance booking prepaid and blind as to hotel ID. Was relieved to see a common brand revealed after booking. No mention of lobby under construction and so, front door confusion. Located a block off main hwy & small window facing mtn, so had a good sleep. Lack of water pressure in shower. Lack of concern from morning clerk when I said food was spoiled because mini-fridge not working. Evening clerk fantastic and more than helpful and personable

Swimming pool the highlight

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: Swimming pool
Cons: Room needed updated
Location: Good location, very close to town centre with gas stations nearby for necessities
We have stayed in Travellodges many times and were diappointed with the condition of the room. The price was very reasonable so we weren't expecting the height of luxury but it was very dated and really needed some money spent on it. We booked the hotel mainly because it had a pool for our kids and that was definitely the highlight of our stay as it was a very good pool with a slide. Given the choice of accommodation in the vicinity, we would definitely not choose to stay here again.

Decent for the price

We didn't plan to spend hardly time inside our room so the price was perfect for what we got. If we intend to spend more time in the actual hotel we would have spent a bit more money for the extra comforts like room space and bed size.

Not a destination hotel

Posted Mar 25, 2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: It is a basic hotel, nothing wrong with that.
Location: Kicking horse ski hill.
I booked this hotel to crash at after what I figured would be a hard day of skiing at Kicking Horse. If you are looking for amenities, this is not the hotel. If you are looking for a clean room, and pool and hot tub this is the place. It is on the Trans Canada but faces away so is not noisy. There is no restaurant but there are lots of good places within walking distance. Breakfast is served, I didn't partake. Has free Wifi and cable TV. Would certainly consider booking this again next time in Golden.

Close to Kicking Horse ski resort

Cons: Cleanliness was below expectations
hotel was ok, but wasn't especially clean. Layers of grime on the bathroom door. Room was ok, but not very clean. Had to ask for new sheets as the original sheets had quite a few hairs on them. Staff was very helpful. Pool area wasn't very clean either.

Cheap hotel 15 min away from kicking horse

Posted Mar 21, 2014
Pros: Good and low price for what you get.
Cons: It would be nice to have the pool connected to the building without going outside. Also the hours of the breakfast are too short. only 2 hours
Location: 30 sec away from Mcdonalds and 15 min from Kicking Horse Mountain Resort
I like the fact that the room are pretty cheap . the only thing I didn't like is that the breakfast hours are short and that you got to go outside and freezing weather to go enjoy the pool and spa which was a bit disappointing

Good hotel for the price

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Cons: Details to cleanliness and blankets could be updated.
Location: Close to everything, not a far drive from anything in Golden.
It is a good location, close to ski hill, close to restaurants. Easy access to the highway. The room size was good, (we had a jacuzzi suite). The hotel is quite dated- dont expect anything fancy. Not too much detail was taken to ensure the room was spotless at all, but it is not that expensive to stay there so you have to take that into consideration. Staff is really nice and helpful, breakfast options are pretty good for continental. Pool facilities are pretty rusty- but the slide is great for children. Not the place to stay for a romantic getaway but if you are looking to be cost efficient and don't plan to spend much time in the hotel it is a great choice for the price.

Fantasic

Rooms are your normal room and they where nice drive up rooms which were perfect for snowboarding and gear. Its only place in town with a water slide might not be massive but it was something better than just a pool and kids had a blast! The breakfasts were thee best ever! Such a a great free breakfast! Made our stay really great! Topped it off with a cherry! Was a great amenity

Nice hotel within 20 minutes of Kicking Horse.

After full days of snowboarding, the hot tub and sauna were very much appreciated.
