For the price, this hotel was terrible value for money. And the staff were entirely unhelpful, I would expect in a "4 star" hotel that staff would at least know where the local bus station is or where to buy bus tickets (unfortunately info in Lonely Planet is out of date, I spent a whole day trying to find a ticket office selling tickets to Addis Ababa). And generally my stay in Gondar was incredibly unpleasant, of 1000 cities I've been to, it was one of the two or three worst.

The food was okay but the next day we had bad cases of diarrhea. They did not arange Airport pick up and drop off, although it was paid for as part of the package. We nearly missed our flights because of the fact that they did not arrange transport to the Airport

Property needs to do better in honoring Expedia reservations. We stayed here twice on our trip, and they did not have the right room for us either time. In the end, they generously bumped us up to a more expensive room than we asked for, but that took some time. I encourage the hotel, if it is going to use Expedia, to have the correct rooms available.

We booked the Presidential Suite for 3 people. On the day that we checked in, the staff at the reception said that she thought we had canceled. I showed her the confirmation in Expedia app and told her that I never canceled. To make a long story short, we finally got the room no. 208 and that room had insufficient lighting. I guess nobody had ever stayed in that room for a loooong time that the hotel didn’t even know that this room has no light. So I had to ask the front desk lady to change the room to room no. 207. The new room we got was okay but given the price we paid compared to what we got, I think this hotel is way too overpriced. The room was outdated and faced the main road so you could here traffic all day all night. There was also a few blackouts during our stay. The only thing that we were satisfied was the restaurant. The food was good. The location of the hotel is far from the town center so there was really nothing for you to do except spending time in your room or the swimming pool. In summary, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. I’m sure that there must be other better hotels and closer to town. I wouldn’t complain this much if I didn’t pay a lot for the room we stay and got uncomfortable stay. :(

You can do better for the price
The hotel was fine but the prices are way out of line for Ethiopia. The staff seem to trip over each other in an attempt to compensate for poor procedures. Management may want to reconsider policies and procedures.

We had the Presidential suite as they were completely booked and that was all that was left. First the room was advertised to have a queen and two single beds, but there was only one single bed. I asked them if they could bring another bed and at first they said it would be an extra cost. I reminded them that I had paid for a room for 4 people. Then they did bring another bed. The room was large and the initial appearance was nice. The bathroom had a extra large luxury tub as well as a shower. However we soon found that many things were in disrepair. The toilet seat was only connected on one side. The hair dryer nicely provided did not work. There was a unplugged refrigerator in the corner with some exercise equipment that also did not work. There was no remote for the TV. So our initial excitement about a presidential suite was soon diminished. Things were relatively clean and we were there a short time and so it was okay. The breakfast was good, but the lines for eggs were way too long. There was a swimming pool which we did not have time to try. It looked ok. Considering it was in Gondar Ethiopia, it was overall ok for just one night

Truly speaking it is world standard hotel. Beginning from the design of the building. Look forward for the reinnovation of the sauna and the beginning of the terrace on the top floor. Pick up from airport is crucial in any circumstances and look forward improvement .

The TV, fridge, air-con, did not work and we had to repeatedly call the engineer. The phone was difficult to get through. B'fast was very limited. There were condom wrappers in the drawer. It took a lot of effort to make the room comfortable.

Very Disappointed
The staff were great. They really did their best with everythig asked of them, and did so with sincerity (eg when I asked for some ice, when my key card did not work, repeatedly, and I had to change rooms, when I sought assistance to find a tuk-tuk and driver for half a day. But this did not complety cancel out so many negatives: the lack of water pressure made taking a shower seem like I was showering under a dripping tap, bathroom doors with significant water damage, uncomfortable mattress, bottom sheet which was not a fitted sheet and was smaller than the mattress so that during the night I ended up sleeping directly on the mattress, no wifi whatsoever in rooms, with only reliable wifi being in the lobby, where there were no comfortable spaces to be working with a laptop. Photographs on web pages are completely inaccurate. It does not deserve its 4 star rating - even 3 stars would be too generous.

The staff at the Florida hotel are warm and pleasant. The staff went out of there way to treat my family like family. The location is near the airport. The rooms are clean and feels like home away from home. If you are in the area make sure to check out this hotel. Impeccable service and a warm and friendly staff. Keep up the great work.

Serves the need
Overall stay was good. Elevator wasn't working and the pool area was noisy until late. They were unfamiliar with online checkin, but it got resolved quickly. Breakfast was great.

My husband and I stayed here for one night and it was the worst hotel during our entire stay in Ethiopia and probably the worst I've had in general. We experienced power outages, coach roaches, mosquitos, dirty rooms/bathrooms, dirty halls and stairways and no water! Yes, no running water in our bathroom both in the evening and in the morning when waking up. The breakfast was undesirable and the walls were so thin I could hear the person snoring next door over the street noise. I think the staff tried, but were generally disorganized and inexperienced. When we asked for the Manager to complain, we kept getting told he was not there. I don't usually write reviews but I decided to this time in case it helps people make a decision to stay here. There aren't many places to stay in Gonder, but if you can avoid this place, i suggest you stay somewhere else.

Comfortable hotel with good Western food
While I would consider this hotel to be over-priced for Ethiopian accommodations, the facilities are comfortable and the restaurant offers good Western food. I definitely recommend a massage from Maserat and spending some time in the lower level sauna rooms (dry and wet steam).

Friendly staff - convenient location
We stayed for 2 nights and found the location really convenient. There are some nice small local restaurants and bars down the street. The roof top provided an amazing view and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is decent and the rooms are pretty clean other then a few cockroaches. Overall we were happy with our stay!

An uncomfortable night of sleep
A leaking shower created large puddles of water on the bathroom floor. Room was uncomfortably warm so we had to open the windows during the night, bringing in the noise of the street and many mosquitoes. No mosquito net or fans in room. The room had an unpleasant odor.

Nice hotel. A bit far from town.
Overall pretty decent experience. Its a bit away from town which required use of taxi services. Overall the hotel is well equipped for tourists. The customer service was excellent as was overall level of cleanliness.

Gondor stopover
Staff was very attentive. Emailed a request for an airport pick up and although I did not hear back as was short notice, there was a car waiting for me when I arrived. Internet was good and room was clean. A little far out from the town centre however.

I hotel I will not choose again
The hotel looks nice. It is clean. The rooms are nice and there is a pool. There are numerous failings though. It is too far of town. Don't let the fake dot on Google maps fool you. There is another one even further out. It is only 20br in a tuk tuk into the centre though. Not the end of the world. I didn't trust the guy on reception at all. The first time I had this in a hotel in Ethiopia. I think he was trying to make a quick buck himself or through his friends at every opportunity. It was quite easily the poorest breakfast I have had in Ethiopia. On the second day I took one look and couldn't face it and went into town. It is cold stale and dry. I was meant to come back for a night after trekking but cancelled and booked elsewhere. In the surface a lovely hotel, All be it in a rubbish position. It just needs to get its act together.

Great hotel but too far from town…….(for me)
Great hotel booked online but didn't realize its not close to the Piazza where I would have rather been - all the good restaurants / sites are here. however it was very easy to get in a shared local minivan for 3birr a journey - you can also catch a cab but more like 100birr……..

Disappointing stay
Everything that the hotel said was free was mismanaged. Each time, the item (airport transfers, use of the pool, use of the sauna, etc) was first "unavailable" or we needed to pay. Then, after we asked for a manager or argued enough, it was given. Additionally, I had confirmed twice via email (and received a response from the hotel) when our flight arrived and that a shuttle would pick us up, but there was no one to meet us from the hotel at the airport. A helpful taxi took us to the hotel, and the hotel did pay in the end, but it is unacceptable that the multiple confirmations were given but then failed. Furthermore, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable - hard as a rock. The hotel was much farther from the major tourist sites, and for the price, there are many other options.

Florida International Hotel
This hotel had great staff, the facilities were in great condition and the rooms were nice. We did loss power 3 times but no longer than 20 minutes. The mosquitoes were very bad here. (Prior to Gonder I was in Addis).

Swimming pool now open
Pool is now open although a little cold. Check-in staff were a little slow and asked for us to print our confirmation email on their PC rather than just checking us in. Room was good size and cleanliness was good. Breakfast average. Location is ok if you have your own transport.

On arrival hotel had no recors of my booking and said it was full. Eventually given standard double room rather than the presidential suite I had booked and paid for. Having said that the hotel was fine. The room we had was clean and functional but not what I had booked.

Good location - next to Gondar university
The quality of the hotel was excellent for the price. The gym and pool is still under construction. Food, service were resonably priced and service was very good. Love the idea of using only local produce. I had a very enjoyable stay. Double and single room to the back of the hotel can be very noisy at nights owing to the fact that the electricity supply in the area is unreliable. The hotel generator kicks when power is lost creating a bit of a racket. It is better to book a king size or suite which are at the front of the hotel to avoid this.

Hotel is fine, but far from the city center
First thing, the main road through Gondar forms a 4km horseshoe shape and unfortunately, this hotel is on the complete opposite side from the city center. I like to walk, but this means a 45min - 1hr walk up-hill to get into town or a 15 minute tuk-tuk ride. The staff was friendly, but only one person spoke anything more than a few words of English. I asked him to get me a cab, which to him meant calling a friend and "negotiating" an exorbitant price. The next day I just started off walking towards the town and eventually hailed a cab myself. On the plus side, there was a free airport shuttle to and from the airport. I emailed ahead, and the shuttle was there waiting. The room was clean and the wifi worked fairly well and quickly except for the occasional electricity blackout which happened for a few seconds every so often. The bed was rock hard.

Good choice. Very good service, took us to the airport twice for collecting missing baggage. They served us breakfast at 6am when needed. Excellent Ethiopian coffee! Due to the limited English skills of the restaurant staff, pointing to the menu item is the best option. The reception speaks English well. Some equipment items in the bathroom need repair/replacement. Clean rooms, internet which worked well unless power cuts.

The accommodation itself was nice and clean. It took too much unnecessary time for check-in. Front staff did not recognize us whom we booked through Hotels.com. Hence the hotel did not prepare a room with proper number of beds and towels.

Very supportive management
When we were in Gonder this summer there were some serious security situations in the city, which caught us by surprise. The hotel management actually helped us more than any officials or embassy. They ensured our safety at the hotel and made sure we had a safe way to leave the city (we had our kids with us). That was outstanding! I have never seen such strong presence and taking responsibility for guests.

De flesta i personalen var trevliga och hade goda intentioner. Sporadisk eller ingen funktion på hiss, nycklar, lampor mm. Tråkigt läge långt utanför stadens centrum. TukTuk transport krävs.

Komfortables Hotel in der Nähe des Tana-Sees
Wir hatten eine Art Suite mit einem grossen Zimmer mit Doppelbett, einem Salon mit Sitzgelegenheit und einem einzelnen Bett, einem Badezimmer mit Dusche und einer grossen Terrasse (5ter Stock). Das Ganze sehr konfortabel und preiswert. Die kleinen Mängel (sparsames Licht, sparsames Wasser) sind in Aethiopien generell anzutreffen.
