An oasis in the otherwise barren desert of Goole

Posted Feb 24, 2015
Pros: Cheap, but reasonable / good quality. Exceeded expectations.
Cons: Advertises as free parking. The reality is a piece of semi wasteland way behind the hotel and down a rather grim side street or on street parking.
Location: Goole is frankly a grim place, one or two interesting pieces of architecture. Countryside is however very pleasant.
Actually surprisingly very nice. Surrounding area is run down and depressing but hotel is a nice building that stands out amongst the rest of the area. Well presented, clean, staff exceptional and food very good. Great value and recommended.

Enjoyable Stay

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: The Lowther is well upholstered, clean, with welcoming staff and good food.
Cons: The chairs in the bedroom
Location: The hotel has a great history and a walk round the docks is most interesting. But it is in the docks!
Not a great location but when inside this hotel can definitely be recommended. Well upholstered, clean, welcoming staff, good food.

Business stay, Not been to this area before, the hotel was amazing, service was great room was good and although quiet the restaurant food and service was brilliant. Situated next to the dock gates. Not sure about the area as I arrived late. Would certainly go back if in the area again

Nice hotel, but some things lacking

Posted Nov 26, 2014
Pros: Décor, atmosphere, staff
Cons: Finishing touches - sort out the little annoying things like no TV remote.
Location: Next to an industrial area but surprisingly quiet.
No vinegar in hotel - slightly disappointing when you've ordered fish. No remote control for TV and staff didn't manage to supply one. Other than that quite a nice hotel.

A hidden gem

Posted Nov 3, 2014
Pros: Friendly, helpful and willing staff.
Cons: The building is too warm, including room.
Location: Pizzia Italiano, situated down the same street. Hotel adjacent to docks which adds interest and activity does not impede on peace of the building.
Having been pleased with standards on a previous visit decided to use it to break a long journey. Only opened that week is a superb restaurant, Pizzia Italiano, also owned by the hotel business with an excellent atmosphere and plentiful, well managed, hard working staff. A delightful experience!
